how do u manage workplace disablitiy if its getting u in trouble?
i have autism and it affects eveyrthing i do. i have to mentally put energy when i drive to work, socialize, do work properly n not get lazy. i recieved a write up a month ago becuz i didnt call my supervisor or was too lazy and asunrd i didnt have to call her when i was sitting with someone and there was another sitter and none of us alrrted the supervvisor. the second n 3rd time j got two write ups at once for using my phone with a patient even if her family is in the room n left to take a call. ive been told if i get a 4th one is suspension upon investigation and the fifth is termination. i then decided to bring a notebook wherever i go jome and driving becuz i got a sexond speed ticket and then im scared to make mistakes. the last 2 shifts were ok i brought a notebook where i can remind myself rules and now know were not allowed electronics at all only when we watch a patient overnight n they are asleep n in bed. and we can only use notebooks or book to read while on shift but the main priorirty is the patient. im super scared and been wwntint to tell my supervisor this is botherint me n it suxks when ur autistic n have to put in more energy to work than anyone else and wishes we didnt have autism and wishes be normal
Hi Sweetheart. I'm sorry work is stressful for you right now. Have you told HR that you are disabled? You are entitled by Federal law, to "reasonable workplace accommodations". This means for example, if you need to have an alarm to check something, you can do so. It doesn't mean you can break rules but if a rule is something you cannot do with your disability they must find a way you can. Please start by going to HR, not your supervisor. Ask for their help for your work and in explaining this to your supervisor.
