Let's Start an Easy & Inexpensive Fidget List!
Hey everybody!
I was thinking it would be great if we started an easy, Inexpensive and safe Fidget List for those who want to try something new or are interested in getting started with fidgets and stimming for those late diagnosed. Feel free to list yours, your favorites (even if they're not inexpensive, but please state that,) and ask questions. Remember it's important and good to stim in ways that feel best and safe to you. DIY or store-bought are fine, but keep in mind that some materials are not suitable for kids due to potential hazards so err on the side of safety if using for a younger person. I will start off with a few:
1- first of all i'd like to share one I discovered. All you do, is take some air dry clay, (you can use one color or mix up your favorite colors, [non-sticky!]) and then you carefully cut some glad press and seal wrap to cover your air dry clay. It stays soft and squishy and mold-able, but it has some texture and grip, and is in no way wet or sticky.
2- a piece of paper you like or a sticky pad to roll and unroll and keep in your wallet or pocket. good for emergency stimming or discreet stim. often I will do this with menthol stickies for pain relief, just keep track of it.
3 - bubble wrap! A classic, no further explanation necessary.
4 - tiny rubbery squishes in the big tub. you can get these very inexpensively and while they don't last super long you do get a lot of them for a decent price.
5- likely the most expensive on my list but it's my personal favorite, the little ouchie. it's simple and provides pain stimming without harming the skin whatsoever and is discreet. I love that thing; I saw it a few years ago and I still use this one esp during meltdowns.
