Antipsychotic withdrawal
Two months ago my psych told me I could come off my antipsychotic drug Sycrest (5mg/day) cold turkey. Since then I' ve experienced severe anxiety and one week ago I started having psychotic thoughts again. Finally the doctor decided to reintegrate the drug. My mood is stable...I just want to know if the psychosis I experienced lately is due to the fact that I didn't taper off gradually Sycrest. Is there anybody who can help me?

I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing such distressing symptoms since coming off your medication. It's important to note that abruptly stopping antipsychotic medication can lead to a range of withdrawal symptoms, including anxiety, psychosis, and other side effects.
It's possible that the symptoms you experienced were a result of abruptly stopping Sycrest, rather than due to an underlying condition. However, it's also possible that your psychosis is a sign that you still require medication to manage your symptoms.
It's great that you've spoken to your doctor about it and that your mood is stable. Going forward, it's important to work closely with your doctor to create a plan for safely tapering off the medication, if that's something you're interested in doing in the future. Gradually reducing the dosage of the medication over a period of weeks or months, under the supervision of a healthcare professional, can help to minimize the risk of withdrawal symptoms and relapse.
