Hello all. I have bipolar and I am in a really bad depression. I feel as though my heart was ripped out of my chest and is being crushed. I feel alone helpless and sad all day. I feel the only way for me to cope with my depression is by sleeping.I also wish something bad would happen to me so I won;t have to deal with depression as much. I don't eat the way I shoud and I feel like crawling in a hole and just giving up.

@justhavingfun Hey there! Usually a good first step for me when I'm feeling like this is self-care. It can be really hard, so starting with the basics like getting up to shower, put together a decent meal, drink some water and take a short walk is essential. Other little steps like listening to music, journaling, calling a friend or family member, or watching/listening to something funny can snap the real pit of despair feeling. It's hard to crawl out, but try a few of those things to get started. Hope it helps! heart

@HereForTheCoffee Thank you for the ideas. I am going to try some of those ideas. I have to try something because I have been dealing with this for two months now and I am getting nowhere.

Well, that wasn't a BAD week...

Saw my GP on friday (27th), no changes at this point, 6 weeks for the next check-in... wonderful 90min massage on saturday (28th)... nothing much to note of the work week... started the abuse in the physio gym this week (yesterday), so I'm looking forward to tonight's massage (30min from insurance, 30min out of pocket) to give this therapist more time to dig into old scar tissue in my shoulders.

@blitheSun94

This is the 5th or 6th so far. At least this collision was the other guy's fault, so insurance is paying for my treatment.

First time I haven't been more or less stable when it happened, so the last month of chaos has been exactly that...

@Phoenix84

I was in an accident a couple of years ago that was someone else's fault and was referred to physical therapy as a result. It was a very trying and painful time. Fortunately, I received a fair settlement and my car got a brand new beautiful front end despite being nearly totaled. This too shall pass. Hang in there!

@blitheSun94

With the wonderful system up here, the best I can hope for is getting far enough with physio to be able to return to the heavy weights both THIS job and my career path require. The issues happen if I can't... then I have to bring a lawyer in to figure out how much and who pays the settlement.

I've been in a LOT of accidents over the years.

Hi, my name is Abby and I've been recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have had a longer diagnosis of manic depression. I'd like to learn more about bipolar and what I can do to help combat my mental illness and keep me on the up side. I'd like any advice and I guess facts to learn more about bipolar. Thank you!

@littleredpanda98 Hi, Abby! Great to meet you! Glad you are here.
One of the best things I can suggest in your explorations around 7 Cups is to journey through the BD forum thoroughly. There are so many topics covered, from so many points of view, that you're bound to find much of interest and enlightenment here to help you along the way. Also, consider checking to see if there is a DBSA chapter near you to meet with. That's the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. What a great group of caring people! Look for info at dbsalliance.org.
Feel free to start threads as you wish, especially if you are seeking answers to questions you feel haven't yet been discussed in the forum.
I'm looking forward to getting to meet you further.

Thank you for sharing this source! I attend DBSA meetings myself and find the peer-to-peer group dymamic more beneficial than one-on-one therapy, & it's FREE! yes

Abby,

Welcome! The days following a diagnosis can feel very overwhelming. I admire you for seeking support. I have been diagnosed and treated just over a year. I would like to invite you to read my post following the initial diagnosis. I hope you find it relatable and supportive. More importantly, I hope you find the continued support you are looking for. The forums are a great place for that. Best wishes.

Hello!

My name is Tasha and I have recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, about 2 years. So far, I have not had any treatment. I've pretty much been doing things to cope on my own with the support of my parents. At first, I was doing really well with keeping myself on track, but in the last 9 months, I have been hitting rock bottom. I finally have decided to seek outside help and have treatment. It starts next week. I am little nervous, but exciting to get things straightened out. I need all the support I can get!

Thanks an advance!

-Tasha

Hello ... my name is Shannon and although my first therapist diagnosed me bipolar, my current psychiatrist is taking his time and being very thorough. I am having a very hard time at the moment with intense anxiety and agitation. Not to mention the chronic insomnia. Does anyone else here tend to have more agitation, anxiety and anger than the typical elation and positive mania/ hypomania? It tends to stay with me for weeks on end and the depression is numbing. I personally find it all very confusing and find it hard to distinguish between my moods and emotions.

Best to every be here.

@Shannon1972 Hi! Welcome! I have had an experience somewhat similar to yours. I am diagnosed with Bipolar II, which is characterized as majority depressive symptoms, and much less frequent hypomanias-- never full-blown mania. As I've gotten older, the hypomanias have in fact disappeared, which isn't uncommon. BDII sufferers often have a form of depression that involves "agitated depression." In this form, although the other symptoms are pretty classical, you tend to experience a higher energy level of anxiety and irritability/agitation.

You may want to talk ir out with your professional to see if your history/current symptoms might suggest whether or not this is a facet of your specific illness. If so, perhaps therapy +/- potential meds may be suggested that are different, and more finely tuned to your life events.

Good luck with everything!

@ladylazarus1971 thank you for your reply. I am finally coming out of almost 2 months of freeling terrible anxiety, agitation and depression. It finally lifted a few weeks ago and I am feeling 100 times better. These last few years have been so hard to control my emotions ... so when I am in these moments of feeling good I try very hard to hold onto them! Positive thoughts and energy
