Chronic Depersonalization
I have it understood most people experience depersonalization for a fleeting moment, or for hours or even days at a time. But has anyone had it for years?
I’m coming up on my second year of a constant dream state. My mind is resistant to medication, I develop panic disorder with each new pill. I find it hard to talk to therapists and psychiatrists because people who have never experienced this world really don’t know how to treat it.
I maintain my job, and keep up with friends over call or text atleast once every month or two, but have no social life outside of that, as I find difficulty with such things now. This new world is lonely.
Has anyone else been stuck here? Is there a definite cause of depersonalization for you? Did you come back eventually?
On one hand, I would hope I’m not alone on this. On the other, I hope no one, even my worst enemy has been stuck here.
Maybe mindfulness could help you to find some rest in your experience of depersonalisation.
i had same experiences with it too, but it got better after getting some neuroleptics (quetiapin).
I second iLuke's suggestion to practice some mindfulness exercises. Also, grounding techniques, which are in the same realm. If you need some suggestions, simply search on the internet with these key words (grounding techniques, mindfulness exercises).
You're definitely not alone in what you're feeling. I have experienced much the same. The period went on a long while, but it did pass.
