Diagnosis

I'm in the midst of currently getting diagnosed for whatever mental health condition is plaguing me, however, the doctor mentioned bipolar disorder and she is not the first. Whenever I was close to a diagnosis, I always bailed for one reason or another.

I suppose I'm just looking for support or helpful information, such as what did you go through when you were diagnosed or what lead to the diagnosis?

I've been like this as long as I can remember and it is a down that has lead to me now seeking help for the sake of others as it has been a bad down.

Thank you!

@MStar333 I hope you get the correct diagnosis that helps you begin the healing process, or managing the illness.. myself several diagnoses from varied Drs, I had a car accident and was on way home from work, so that means more dr input and alternate views on what is “wrong with him”..

the things that make me feel better are silly and very basic.. I did re@d some books on how to deal with BPD and mood disorders which gave some good tips, watched several videos on how to manage life with mental illness and whatnot.. the thing gladly realised, how many other people who actually make a difference in the world also had serious mental health issues of some sort.. Steve Jobs saying that made me feel a bit better also.. “only those crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the only ones who actually do”..

from my Illness, disorder or whatever label they want to use, it has enabled me to be unique and passionate ++++ to view things in ways others may not, live a life others dream of, due to spontaneous actions, maybe risk taking etc.. travel the world with $600 in bank and come home 2.5 years later.. that side is good, no great.. alas, sadly the downside in this is the downs.. and they are deep..

i chose to move away from the world to be me without meds, and didn’t want to see the sadness in friends and family’s faces of who I have become now.. in my head not 1-10th of who I use to be.. always was different to most, but after the accident and trauma following etc.. the new me now lives in the woods, with rescue pooches, visits town once every few months and forces people interactions when getting food at little store - pub once every few weeks.. stopped drinking few months ago, that has helped lots with moods and silly thoughts.. replacing my drinking buddies with 7 cups, going ok for now.. I hope you get the help needed and if you dr not helping or doing as you want, get another one..

i had issues with telling people I knew about my diagnosis but not as hard with strangers, weird as that is.. friends like yourself sort of dismissed it, or said your fine etc.. the new people I met when moving out here told straight up, I have mental health issues, trying to set myself up for success.. wishing you nothing but love, luck and light as it is not an easy path.. it is worth it tho.. hugs from the Mutz and I. The sharing circle is a great group place to vent or ask questions of others hope to chat there if you ever need.. take care of you and be kind to yourself, you deserve it..

Thank you so much for the lengthy response! I appreciate it and I hope you're happy now. Rescue dogs sound fantastic and the woods sound so peaceful.

My new doctor is fantastic but it's more of my own fault for wanting to avoid a diagnosis previously - when I was up, I thought I was fine and when I was down, I didn't care. Then on the very off normal day, I would worry about how a diagnosis would affect my future. But now is the time! Now is the time to fix my off balance brain.

Thank you for the recommendations! ❤️
