I need a friend who understands

March 8th, 2017

Hi. I'm a girl, sixteen and have bipolar two disorder. I need a friend who can understand what I'm going through. I'm pretty messed up right now and I'm sorry if I'm too much to handle. It's OK to tell me that and stop talking to me. I'll understand. Thanks.

@BookW0rm We're all here for you sweetie. It's okay to talk at your own speed, where and when you want to. Group chats can be helpful, and reading through these forums has been quite helpful for me too.
I have BDII as well, and sometimes it feels like you fall through the cracks because your symptoms are less "obvious." That doesn't matter-- you are still hurting.
Take care of yourself, and please don't be a stranger to the forums-- we are a good community and support system for each other. Here, you will always be welcome with open arms.
Much love to you!

Hi I deleted the app for awhile because of memory space and I only just saw the responses now.

Hi Bookworm.

You've come to the right place. We are all here to listen and help as much as possible. My husband has Bipolar disorder II. I am hoping that the skills I have acquired living with him and coping with his mental illness could allow me to assist you as well :) Please feel free to leave me a message at any time.

Evelyn

Hi there,

I understand what it's like to deal with bipolar disorder. I have bipolar 2, and I really struggle with down days and a lot of mixed episodes. I've started blacking out during them which makes it a lot worse. I could always use someone to talk with, and I would love to help suppoer you as well. Good luck and keep moving forward, it will get better :)

Mixed episodes are terrible. I've been getting really bad ones. I'm not even sure you could call them mixed episodes :/ it would be nice to get to know you better :)

@MovingForward23 Mixed episodes are the absolute worst! All that negative energy and aggression. Ugh!

What's happening with me, I can only describe it as a mixed state. So when I'm feeling weak like if I got some bad news or something. Lately though it's been happening no matter what state of mind I'm in. Whenever it happens, I need to take my emergency meds so I can calm down, get knocked the hell out, and sleep for hours. What I've been referring to it as "My brain is screaming" because if it had a sound, that would be it. Every bad emotion that I have ever felt feels like it's pushing through my veins. I'm very angry, I'm incredibly depressed, my anxiety is through the roof, I'm frustrated as all get out, and so much more. What sucks is I get the feeling of wanting to hurt myself. I messed up my left shoulder pretty bad last time :/

@BookW0rm The desire to self harm always speaks up the loudest for me during a mixed episode too. It's so dangerous and seductive!

I am tired of hiding my illness to my friends, but I don't want to tell them either

@Soh1 Let the members of the Cups community become your friends. We don't judge, and a lot of us will be able to understand what you're going through. I hope you get a lot of support here!
