Living Apart Together with Bipolar

i am bipolar and have been living apart together with my boyfriend of 9 years for the last 3 years. Since marriage success rates are so low for people like me, is this a better alternative? I can be sensitive to my environment and need alone time. Anyone else understand? I am also afraid to buy a home due to my condition so I just keep renting but feel like a failure for not owning my own place at 48 yrs old.

No answers, just support! I am in a new relationship of 4 months with someone who is BP2 and find myself wondering how i can best support the relationship/him as we try and grow closer with the real challenges and sometimes wonder if it is even possible. Everyone is different, but seeing examples that it is possible, as your 9 years together shows, always gives me hope. A healthy relationship married or not is huge, so big congrats on that. If you have any advice on how your boyfriend has supported you in "living apart together" i'd love to hear. Otherwise, I hope that you get some excellent answers to your questions!
