Loving someone w/ Mental illness and dumped
My boyfriend of 7 years went on vacation to WA and never came back. I was tracking him on an app as a safety measure for his solo trip and when he never returned to his airbnb. I sent his sister who lived in WA to check out the location. He was not like himself paranoid and delusional we tried sending the crisis team 3 times to have him committed and they said he needed to get worse. He is now homeless in Seattle the only good thing is that he's at a men's shelter but he refuses to come back to CA and he blames me for making him homeless. I fear that if I show up it'll only cause him to go off grid. I am grateful he's at a men's shelter I don't want to scare him away further. I don't know if he's manic but basically he is the complete opposite version of himself. Has any one disappeared and pushed their family away or partner is there hope that he will be okay someday? I don't know what to do, I can't help someone that blames me or that thinks I am trying to control them. The only reason I know he's alive is because it shows he's active on Facebook messenger and although homeless I feel he is high functioning. Any advice from people who have been a abandon or even been in a similar situation as him ?
I can’t really comment on if he’ll be alright and come back to you. But I do know that he’ll remember how kind and loving you were to him in some time. Right now, there’s nothing anybody can do that’ll make him change his mind about you or himself. But I really do hope you know that this is not your fault. My ex, who was diagnosed with bipolar, did disappear on me for almost 4 months before she one day texted to apologise for the way she treated me. But even before that I was able to forgive her coz I knew that it wasn’t her fault and I couldn’t be mad or sad at an illness. I hope you do the same. Forgive and know you did whatever you could. Coz sometimes loving someone isn’t enough to em. I hope you find peace soon.
