Meds…

So I’ve started meds a week ago. The side effects are awful. I’m wondering is there anyone here that has been diagnosed with bipolar, not doing meds? I’m also a hypochondriac so it makes it all that much worse. I’m manic and feel like I just want to crawl out of my skin but I can’t take my meds because of my rash. Just Benadryl.. I’m not sure what to do.

Meds for me are a complicated topic. I haven't been in to see a proper mental health professional in almost 10 years. It's not a good situation right now....in the particularly bad episodes of depression I will low ball my issues to my pcp. Get some anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication and they don't even really help that much....eventually I feel better, and go off them, it happens again and again and again....you'd think I'd learn..... Currently in the worst mixed episode I've had in a very long time. I'm looking to find a psychiatrist. I have found many that are within my insurance coverage but I'm terrified to reach out to them. I need to get out of my own head and do it..... Sorry I'm not much help but wanted you to know your not alone in not wanting to take the meds

Just remember there is nothing wrong with reaching out to the right resources they are there to help.. it’s worse and harder on your body to take meds and then come off of them and take and come off; I’ve learned this the hard way myself. I’ve gotten to where I set the weeks worth of medication up in a pill box with my vitamins and so I take them when I get up and go to bed.. you want to feel your kind of better all the time so being honest with them about how you’re feeling so you can get there.. you’re totally not alone!

When I first started meds the first week was the worst and I felt like it flared and intensified my anxiety and made my stomach hurt. Other than that I didn’t have any issues I have now been on if going on day 15 and I feel a little better, don’t feel any side effects.

It took me six months to adjust to my meds. Today I don't have any side effects and they work well

Meds are also a hard topic for me. I’m 19 years old and have been taking psychiatric meds since I’m 10. At this point it’s just automatic: morning meds/evening meds. I do sometimes wonder why I’m like this… why do I need those meds. Sometimes I accept it, sometimes I don’t. All I know is that they are important and I couldn’t get by without them.
