My codependence with bipolar is hurting my relationship

My husband has been my main support when dealing with bipolar. His parents have always caused a wedge in our marriage. He is afraid to confront them because they have their own mental health issues. I hadn't realized how stressed he was and now I feel guilty leaning on him. We have a new baby and I'm not getting any sleep, which just exacerbates the issue. I am looking for tips on ending my emotional codependence. I want to learn to manage my bipolar without his help. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

@LostinAK Posting your concern here is a first step. I just joined moments ago and am feeling significantly better already from the content and now connection with someone who has similar worries. I am Bipolar, Type 1 and thankfully in remission. A dear friend went into a manic rage on Christmas Eve and had to be hospitalized yesterday on Christmas Day. I have an emotional support network yet having an internet connection like this at four in the morning is a real godsend. Half-awake so really don't want to give advice, just support. Thanks, you are my very first connection on this site!

Thank you so much for your reply. It meant a lot. I'm facing quite the steep learning curve doing this on my own. I'm honestly terrified.

@LostinAK

Hello LostinAK, sorry to hear that the moment is so difficult.

It's hard to manage with everything mostly if there are other people external to the family that make it harder. Interactions with relatives can be complicated and the baby sure needs all your focus and energy so I hope you can have the needed emotional support to face everything.

Eventually give a look at the community in which parenting support is given, you can check it on HERE

Best wishes
