Partial Hospitalization Program
Hi all. I recently experienced a very debilitating psychotic delusion, and I've been having trouble coping ever since. I am likely about to take short-term disability leave from work to enter a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and get more intensive treatment. I have made so many positive adjustments to my lifestyle this past year. Now I just want to improve these habits even more and, maybe most importantly, find the right medication combination.
Does anyone here have experience with a PHP (rather than inpatient stay)? If so, I would love to hear your experiences. I am a bit nervous about the unknown. Thank you so much for reading.

Sorry to hear you're going through a difficult time. I have attended a PHP twice in the last 6 months, once in person and once online due to COVID. I know not every program will be exactly the same, but maybe my experience will give you an idea of what to expect. The program I attended consisted of 3 daily group sessions revolving around many different topics such as coping skills, mindfulness, healthy eating, building resiliency, aroma therapy, sound therapy, art thearpy, once we just answered light-hearted questions from a book of interesting questions, once we "played" with blocks to build a tower and talked about strong foundations and making progress. There were powerpoints and worksheets and handouts. Everyone was given a chance to express themselves, share their experiences and ideas. A lot of the support and help came from others attending the program, we tried to help eachother. When I first arrived I was given an opportunity to share my experiences of what brought me to the program. I met privately with a psychiatrist to work out a medication plan. Before I left, they made sure I was connected to resources to keep up with my treatment.
I hope this helps, feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
