Work issues
I may not always be in control but work was where I thrived. I have always been good at my job and done well. Confident in my abilities and that no matter how much of a mess I was anywhere else, work was different. Over the past two years that has changed. My ability to concentrate and focus has caused my productivity and quality of work just suffer. I have started becoming more emotional at work and have had many episodes where I just break down in tears at my desk. I don’t know what to do to fix this and it feels like a horrible weight on my shoulders to fix this. I am the breadwinner in my household and need to get it together. We have tried ADHD meds and they just give me headaches and more anxiety. Anyone had any luck in this area?
Thank you for sharing this with us here.
Well I can almost relate. I am a student. I used to enjoy study but now its like just living from one semester to another. I am older sibling in the house. Lots of pressure to not mess up my career or life. Depresive phase is way more longer that others. Meds just gives me chills and made me more paranoid. I am absolutely miserable. I just prey that it doesn't hit me before any important work.
I can relate to like everything you wrote down. Right now everything is changing and i’m reverting in a depressive phase and it sucks. I know that this will last to about the middle of summer. Luckily, my favorite person is here to support me, but she doesn’t understand what i’m going through and I hope she never does.
i’ve gone through a lot of what you’ve written down. I would take a step back and take a small break. The same thing happened to me except school was mixed into it too . It got so bad at work that I quit. Looking back I regret it; a lot, but it was just a part time side job. Just take some time off; I would suggest 2 week or maybe three. You said that you were the breadwinner, so this would probably put some strain on you. make sure you have enough money saved up while you are not working. I hope all goes well. For this helped me out.
I'm in a similar boat (can't focus anymore, feeling pretty miserable about the whole thing). I can't really tell how much of this is because of the job itself (high stress job at a start up, working from home, no social interaction with colleagues) vs. my moods, but either way I think something has to give. My plan is to look for lower stress jobs and work more than one of them (e.g. teaching English remotely and maybe receptionist? Maybe get a job at my gym since then I won't have to pay for membership? Still considering everything). The really important thing to remember is that you are not your job, you have a whole life outside of it and what you do to make money doesn't define you, so there's no shame in stepping away and looking for something that suits your life better right now.
