Helping my boyfriend

My boyfriend was recently diagnosed with bipolar depression and ptsd. He’s only 17 and has been through so much because he is an ex gang member and his dad passed when he was a child. Because of his recent diagnosis he is now trying medication but is miserable with the side affects. How can I help him know that I’m there and I want to help. I’ve already told him that but it seems he’s trying to hide his mental issues from me. If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it!

Hey! You're really sweet and caring for being able to be present for your boyfriend, it can really help him a lot even if you don't realize it yet. Sometimes just telling him that you're there for him if he needs can mean a world of difference! Being present with him, making sure that you still care for him even if he is dealing with problems, etc. I'm hoping for the best with you and your boyfriend!
