Limerence psychosis
I'm experiencing limerence with a grocery store employee I met a few months ago when they helped me at the store. My thoughts are consumed with them, obsessing about an imaginary relationship that does not exist. I go to the store every time I work and I go to be near them and in their presence which fuels the limerence even more. It blurs the line between a crush and a full blown obsession. This has happened to me before with people in the past and it eventually breaks when I come out of the psychosis. Does anyone else experience this? It's completely involuntary and feels like an addiction. I feel alone and ashamed of my thoughts, it makes me feel powerless.

Don't feel ashamed or be so hard on yourself.
This happens more than people think.
Please be gentle with yourself as you work through this and until it dulls, you might be better avoiding the store for a bit 💙

Hi! It takes a lot of courage to speak openly about what you’re experiencing. Those feelings of „obsession” that you’re describing can feel heavy, but they are just human responses that our brain gives us, sometimes it can be because of some unmet needs of closure or just chemistry shifts. You’ve mentioned that it happened before, how did you manage to navigate that situation? Do you feel like there’s a specific reason why it got triggered now, like sense of being seen or kindness of the employee? For me, in moments like that trying to focus on self care, hobbies I enjoy that occupy my mind helped me get my mind off such things, is there anything that works for you? You got this, recognising the pattern is a very important first step! ❤️

I'm so sorry for your pain. I have experienced this obsession twice before, and on the second time, I could solve it somehow. Mostly, you have unmet needs of love and care, as well as intimacy and social connection. When I focused on having self-love and self-care and spending more time with friends, this obsession could be solved and was in the background of my thoughts. You will ask yourself questions like, " Why am I attracted to him? Are the reasons worth caring about? Also don't feel ashamed of your feelings, it's not very odd as all women and men feel obsessed somtimes. Be proud of yourself that you tecognize the situation. I hope you feel relieved soon about it
