Manic Memory Loss
Does anyone here deal with memory loss after a manic episode? When I'm manic I'm so focused on everything that it makes it hard to focus on anything so there's always big time gaps at the end of the day. It's like constantly drinking espresso shots. If you deal with this have you overcome it and if so how?
@NeonBaby Once I read a book about a woman who couldn't remember some things she had done that day. She had 'missing time'. In therapy it was discovered that she had some serious trauma in her past. I watched a video on consciousness fragmentation, and how to heal from it.
I’m still trying to fully figure that one out. what has been helping me, though is if I lose people due to an episode snd that person knew I was in an episode, they are they obviously really weren’t my friend anyway. that’s sort of what I lose memory on. Interactions with people that make others mad. Sometimes I sort of remember but the part I remember is that I can’t control myself. Especially when I’ve been off medication. It gets really bad. The memory loss makes me embarrassed because I don’t know what all I did. I also tend to have people I trust give me a rundown of what happened so that way I’m at least getting an objective point of view of what I did from people who won’t ever get mad at me for being in an episode.
