Questioning my diagnosis
I was supposedly diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was very young but I'm not sure what type. My pediatrician at the time never officially put it in my medical records because he claimed he didn't want to label me on top of also being diagnosed with ADHD which actually is in my medical records. As a result of this diagnosis when I was younger I was part of a trial to see how a seizure medication worked for bipolar patients but i dont know the name of the medication and I believe there is not documentation in my medical records of it because it was an experimental trial. I remember going to those appointments and being held down by my mother and probably at least 3 nurses all at the same time because I hated needles. But then again what child doesn't. However, recently events unfolded where my mother made a claim that I was refusing to take medication and get treatment for my bipolar disorder which isn't the case. I am currently 8 months postpartum from having my son and am trying to navigate being a mother of three. I have brought up to my primary doctor recently that I have been struggling a bit more than usual but she didn't seem to think it was concerning enough to send me to be evaluated or anything. I guess my real question would be is there a chance that I never had bipolar disorder to begin with and they just labeled me as such because my ADHD was maybe a little more out of control than others? And also if that is the case then was I subjected to something I shouldn't have been as a child with being part of that trial and could that be considered abuse? And is my mother just using a supposed diagnosis against me to be in control of my life?

It's possible of course, but I imagine it would be unlikely..
