Newbie with Bipolar 2
Hello all,
Newbie here. 28. Female. Not really sure what exactly how this site works, but I'm picking up that it's to offer support to others. I am here in hopes of receiving and reciprocating support. I've been diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder for 2 years now. I've been doing very well but I keep my diagnose and everyday "struggles" very well hidden. My significant other knows everything and is incredibly supportive (thankfully) but his family does not know anything and I don't think they'd be supportive. It gets a bit exhausting trying to hide from them when we have plans and I have to back out because I'm just not up to it. I don't enjoy making up excuses for them. My family has seen it all and does their best to understand me and my diagnosis but they have caused me a lot of pain over the years and I don't feel comfortable talking to them about my mental health.
I am in a healthy, loving relationship, as stated above. I work from home (permanently- not due to covid), I co-own/co-manage a content delivery service. When I'm doing well I like to bike, hike, run, swim, kayak, and basically do anything outdoors.
Here to be heard and to hear everyone else as well. Thanks <3

Great to hear you're still working despite your illness
I wish you the best concerning your mental illness and the relationships with your family.
I understand how you're feeling by not being able to open up about mental illness that much. I live in the Netherlands and I'm happily to have had the ability to be open and accepted towards family and friends about my own psychosis(with manic characteristics). With work it's unfortunately another story. Some employees are open towards accepting people with mental illness but some aren't. I have not send any application form out but I won't probably tell that I have had a psychotic episode. Because I don't wanna risk not getting the job because of that.
If you want we can send messages to eachother:) Feel free to contact me.
