Burnt out teacher
Hello, I am a middle school special education teacher and am burnt out. I am looking for ways to cope to get through the rest of the school year. I am looking for new jobs currently, but have some guilt with leaving mid year. This is so hard as I always put other first instead of myself, but my physical and mental health is not good right now. I have headaches everyday and am extremly tense. Any supporr , help, or even just someone to converse with daily would be so helpful.
Thanks!

being a teacher let alone special needs students would be exhausting.... I know how hard it is to be in a spot where you feel you just want out NOW ..... in the meantime or if you think you can make it to end of school year i found finding one or two successes a day / week or even approaching things in a different mindset helps... instead of going through the motions and doing all the same things over and over.
Hi
You are mentally and physically suffering. You have a duty to look after yourself first. If you aren’t coping it’s fairer for the students to have someone who is better suited. At times we have to listen to what our bodies are telling us, because if you ignore those physical messages then your body will send you even stronger ones until you pay attention.
Just read Gabor Mate’s « When the Body says No ».
