Calling off sick guilt
Hello,
I seem to have a lot of anxiety for calling off work the past couple of days since my baby was sick. I usually dont mind for a couple of days but since this came after a 2 week vacation, a holiday and another scheduled PTO next week I seem to feel really guilty. My boss's responses seem very neutral. "I hope she (my daughter) gets better" and "see you tomorrow".. but Im overthinking and feel a lot of shame that im letting my coworkers down. Really worried how annoyed my coworkers might be since we've been understaffed for about a month. I know I can't control when the baby gets sick and I do prioritize my family over my job. I dont know where all this shame and guilt comes from and im having the hardest time letting it go. Any advice?

I am right with you with this same exact feeling of shame. I’m having a challenging time adjusting back after 6 months off.
What I’ve noticed is that I people please a lot. So rather than thinking of my own welfare, I’m concerned of how THEY are going to feel. But, they aren’t living our lives, we can’t help when this like this happen. We are doing our best. We want to be present and put our best forward but sometimes our best is being there for our families or ourselves.
I also hope your daughter feels better. 💛
I just want to say you’re really doing your best it’s totally normal to feel guilty but remember that taking care of your baby and yourself always comes first your boss sounds supportive and your coworkers will understand 😊everyone knows family comes before work🤍Try not to be too hard on yourself, you’re a caring mom and that already shows how responsible you are take it one day at a time and give yourself some grace
I hope your little girl feels better soon🤍🤍
