Frustrated
Hey everyone, I've been job hunting for a while now and it's starting to wear on me. I do freelance/independent work(I build and ship web apps, admin dashboards, AI tools, and Chrome extensions — not just code snippets.
What I deliver:
• Full-stack web apps (Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase)
• REST APIs & backends (Python, FastAPI)
• AI-powered features (Gemini, chatbots, content tools)
• Chrome extensions (Manifest V3)
• Fixed-scope MVPs with clear deadlines). I keep applying and prepping for interviews, but the uncertainty and rejection are getting heavy.
Would love to connect with anyone going through something similar, or who's come out the other side of a rough job search and has advice or just an understanding ear. Not looking for pity, just some encouragement and maybe practical tips to keep going.

Good luck getting on with your future.. it's sounds like you have skills that are in demand.. everybody gets into a situation where they are employed.. it is probably that the skills you have aren't in demand in the town you live in. 🌲

Sorry for the delay as I only saw this now. I understand where you're coming from. I have been freelancing for many years and had a few other jobs in between. Some of these jobs were temporary with potential to turn permanent. Prior to that I had had some other jobs that were permanent full time. Truthfully once I started freelancing, I never went back to having a full time permanent job for various reasons.
I can understand how that feels as it does sometimes get discouraging and I think people have the tendency to think others have it better. I sometimes feel this way, but then I think of all the times I felt discouraged, I always managed to find something else to do and managed to bounce back. The feeling is usually just a temporary feeling. Part of freelancing is having a situation of not knowing. I was feeling more secure a few years ago, but there was a reason for that.
I commend you for working, and thanks for posting this because it's helping me process a few things of my own. I have done so many things over the years, and I don't regret trying different projects or type of work. There are some specific reasons why I did not go with a full time permanent type of a job because that is what worked for me, and even if I am looking for part time or temporary work, I always come back to trying to freelance.

Job search is really challenging and tough, preparing cvs/resume, application letters, really tiring.
You submit your applications to various industries and firms sometimes no response, it's tough. You can even get to a point you're like I am not applying anymore.
The best thing to do is to remain positive and grateful for everything. Continue making applications, work on self improvement,learn a new skill, take other courses and cultivate friendships with people from all walks of life. Something will come up.
