How to get into work

Hi, I'm 34 and I've barely worked my whole life. I had a few jobs straight out of school, all of which I was fired from, I suspect because I never spoke to anyone, was awkward and weird and too anxious to do anything. This severely knocked my confidence until the last time at a job interview I broke down in tears. I got pregnant not long after and have been a stay at home mum ever since.

Now though my marriage is breaking down and I am going to have to find a job. My confidence is even worse than it was, after spending the last 19 years living with a narcissist who discouraged me every time I suggested doing anything with my life.

How do I regain confidence to even talk to people outside of my home? Will anyone take me on with no skills including social skills? Do I jump in at the deep end and just go for it, risking breaking down and pushing myself further back or take it easy and work on my confidence somehow first?

Not sure what I'm looking for just needed to get this out. I'm terrified and the rent is building up.

People often have more skills then they realize .... if you are awkward and shy you may try something that is out of your comfort zone like dealing with public in retail will bring a shy person to open up quickly.... IMO

what type of work were you in before ? what type are you looking at..? can you network with anyone friends and family to find a introduction to a possible employer etc?

where i am there are many Temp agencies which if you can get on and are assigned to a few things you may find your strengths and skills ....... some places also have re-entering the workforce type classes or skill prep.
