Life’s Not Fair
My goal is to become an electrician and I’m living in a very small town with limited opportunity. I’ve been unemployed for three months now because my work experience, multiple career changes and a cross country move has rendered it somewhat eclectic, unfocused and put me in a pretty much unemployable position. I can’t compete in this small town because they have a more geographically specific resume.
After sending out hundreds of resumes emails and applications for a single call back, the company doesn’t want to work with my school schedule. I need to go to school to get the job in the first place and the classes I need aren’t offered at night or online. I’m so frustrated because every time I try to get a foothold in life something keeps knocking me down.
@RickestRick86 - Good afternoon! I am so sorry you have found yourself in this position when you are trying so hard to meet your goals. I am glad that you have reached out instead of keeping it bottled up. Sometimes just saying or typing it out can help. I hope you don't give up and keep pushing through. Does your school have any resources for you? Are you able to find a position in another field, but where you may be able to meet contacts to become an electrician? Whatever you do, don't give up. Maybe try to look at it from another perspective. If your best friend were going through the same situation, how would you support them? What advice might you give?
