Work and mental health

I’m sure this has probably been covered many times before.

How do you navigate your jobs and mental health?

I have a mixed bag of ADHD, depression and anxiety and it ebbs and flows. I feel that it’s gotten worse over the last little while and that it affects me at work. I want to address it with my current employer (or future ones) but am afraid that the stigma of mental health will affect the outcomes negatively.

@1in8billion

if it is noticeable sometimes a employer or colleague might ask you if something is wrong.

it is also an item that is better addressed before it becomes an issue example

 Example: if i was going through something and i can not concentrate well etc

#1  if i told my manager  they are more understanding if a project / task is taking longer then they thought .......

#2do not tell and they are upset about what is taking so long ... saying anything then seems like an attempt to avert blame and may or may not be real...

two different outcomes to the same issue.   Of course many people / bosses etc  have a different take and some this might be seen in a different way ... i guess i might be lucky as most people i have shared i am having some anxiety / stress and am not 100% have been through it or have a close person in their life so have can understand.... now with that being said this only works if it is a sporadic event and not a blanket excuse for poor performance ...

@1in8billion I'm personally addressing it by currently working part time and building up my tolerance while I heal mentally and physically. Also, I would recommend a job that won't follow you home if you are looking for a job switch right now. It was a game changer for me. After years of stress and no free time at all, I work at a stationary store and my work starts when I enter the shop and ends by stepping out of it. You don't have to stuck to this work forever, but I find it extremely helpful during recovery as it minimises your stress and once you step out of work, you are free to enjoy your time without guilt, stress or pressure.
