career path undefined atm?

Hello,

I've been job searching for the past few months. It's a lot of stress and adjustment, and I couldn't commit to applying to 50+ job postings per day. I hate the grind, but it is what it is. Networking is fun, but exhausting for an introvert like myself.

The past year, I was accepted to an almost year-long program that focused on web development. I've been trained and provided career support to help me apply for jobs in the tech field (mainly any SWE roles I could find). I was super grateful for this life-changing opportunity and made new friends in the city who helped me get access to resources for opportunities that I never thought were available.

After over 2 months since I graduated, I ended up leaning towards pursuing IT again and wanting to study for the A+ cert. It was my original passion that made me push myself for a career change in the beginning.

I am hesitant to share with my program's career support or any of my classmates about it. We would check in about twice a month to see how our job search is going. I just have this fear of being cast out if I end up not pursuing the field that the training program has prepped me for. So I decided to keep this to myself, at least from them. It already feels like I'm starting from the ground up again on my own. I'm currently doing a side gig that would help boost my resume, but other than that, I am now putting more work into expanding my skills.

I find it hard to manage the consistency between the job hunt and continuous learning. I think that's what I'm currently struggling with, because of the unexpected personal responsibilities I also have to consider. I've been restructuring my routine and trying not to use a deadline-based approach to my tasks to prevent any further stress and pressure on my well-being.

Anyway, I just want to let this out here. I already have a family, partner, and friends who have been supportive of my endeavors ever since. I'm going to keep pushing and hope for the best.

Thanks for reading.

@compassionateOak202

You are making great strides, you have already come a long way and you are great. As someone who is not directly connected to your situation, it seems to me that you will be able to achieve your goal even if your main job is finished. You have support and a goal, you are doing your best to achieve it - so the rest is no longer up to you. Good luck

Hello @compassionateOak202

Thank you for sharing this. I recently came across a saying which went “An eventual and inevitable collision of opportunity and competence” and it had me realizing that we will eventually get there. As hard as it sounds, it’s good to hear that you are still showing up for yourself. Virtual hugs 🤗
