Colleague acting like the boss

I have this one specific colleague that always seem to act like she's the Manager. Whenever we're going to be short-staffed, she will ask me to work overtime to cover for the absent staff. Even if I agree, it's not something that she can decide and ask me to do. A couple of days ago, she messaged me, asking me to start an hour earlier to cover for 2 absent staff in the first week of July.

I replied, saying our Manager had already asked me to work an hour earlier as overtime for the first 2 weeks of July, as for both weeks, there will be 2 absent staff on vacation. I feel that receiving her message, it seems like she's trying to be my boss, making the decisions to ask me to start earlier. I somehow get the feeling that she wouldn't be starting earlier and work overtime. So, I still might be on my own from 6:30am to 12pm.

I don't understand why she always does that. For her own benefits? She's never the one who's wanting to work overtime, and yet, she always wants me to work more. There are times when she works the 6:30am shift, missing the 7:30am person, back then, I started at 11am. Missing that 7:30am staff, she will ask me to start at 10am, so that she's not all alone all morning. Yet, this decision still need to be okayed by our Manager, she couldn't just ask me to work earlier just to help herself.

When I was working last week, we were 3 staff short, Manager had given me the option to start either one or 2 hours earlier. I chose 2 hours earlier, more $ for overtime hours. But the other staff I worked with, not even for ONE day, did she stay an hour overtime to help out with tasks (this is another colleague aside from the one mentioned above). This colleague is the one, whom I believe teases me and takes advantage of my hard work and work ethics. Last week, I did ALL the running around with tasks, not ONCE, did she help. It's difficult working with a team of staff who doesn't see what "teamwork" means, the other 3 staff that I work with on the same "team" always just do the minimum requirement of their tasks. Everything extra, I end up doing it. As I'm too nice and considerate enough of others that I want to help them out. I'm the go-go-go type, I can't stand it when I'm not doing something productive, so I'm always on the go, doing something. All the extra work though, none of those 3 staff have ever sincerely appreciated my work, but rather all expect me to do it for them. Teamwork, I often wonder how they define that.

I have a different colleague that is on another team, she has witnessed all the extra work I have done last week. Last Friday, I asked her for a favour, that if she sees my Manager, to somehow mention how she noticed I did all the work last week, and that she hasn't seen the other staff leave the department much to help with the tasks. I even mentioned to her that because I did all the extra work, I walked at least 20,000 steps a day! That's more than 100,000 steps in 5 days, working 10 hour shifts! It didn't help when I wasn't able to get a good night's sleep for at least 3 of those days, and by the 3rd day, my legs were starting to feel tired. I had to apply some muscle ointment on my legs before I went to work.

(Sorry for going off topic, I tend to do that when I'm venting about the unfairness at work).

@Jaeteuk Hi, I'm Eric from California. I think you really should speak out to your colleges, telling them stop doing these kind of stuffs. If you just keep being quiet and doing all the works, they would just be worse and worse to you, so that they can be more and more comfortable. You are the one who do most of the works, and you have the right to ask them to treat you better!

Hello Eric, nice to meet you!

I've actually mentioned this a few times to my Manager, because these colleagues would complain about my work once in a while. Even after mentioning about "teamwork" and how I felt none of them are helping me, no changes could be seen. I don't think there's any hope for them to change, and because I'm the staff with the least seniority and experience, I can't really tell them to do their job properly and help me out. They will always think they are already doing their work (to the minimum required), and that it's my job to do the rest.

I do the extra work, and yet, they will easily complain about something little. But, it's not like I did something wrong, and I always give the staff a heads-up that I didn't have time to do it. Yet, they will still complain about it to me the next day. It's frustrating to work with them, yet, I do like the job and the work I do (and the other team of staff that I work with), and at most times, don't mind doing it. But, from time to time, I just hope that they will help out more. As it gets exhausting and tiring after a couple of weeks.

I'll be working all through the summer starting next Tuesday, until the 4th week of September, with only 3 days off in August. During this summer period, I hope my colleagues will help me out more, otherwise, I'll be overly exhausted if I have to do all the extra work everyday.
