How to not take work too seriously?

I have a tendency of taking work too seriously. Almost as if every comment on my work I see it as a personal criticism. Somehow unable to differentiate.

While I do understand I am not my work. The feedback is on my work, not on me. But, unable to implement this philosophy.

As a result, what happens is that I keep on creating scenarios inside my head and holding lots of angst against some colleagues. All this is doing so much of harm to me and sapping my energy.

How do I deal with it? How do I not let work be my identity. I do realise I need a life outside work too.

Also, if there is any listener willing to hear me out on this, do inform.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I could of written this myself, ADHD emotional regulation issues didn't help. Maybe try breathing exercises when you feel yourself being triggered, or gentle mental reminders that your working life is a small part of your life.

Noted. Thanks a lot. Along with that, I've been actively journaling too, that helps me process my emotions. My next target is to start actively working out at the gym. That will redirect my energy and secrete good chemicals. However, been procrastinating that for long.

Thanks for the reply. I hope your ADHD improves.

@calmsoulmeet

ADHD only confirmed on Wednesday just gone, I turn 60 in January !!

Thank you, I'm sure others will comment on other mindfulness techniques that can help with perspective.
