I'm feeling lost and having no passion at all in work
Hello everyone. I'm a newbie here and it's such a wonderful thing to have a forum that talks about work and stuff since i'm feeling stressed lately about my work.
I've been changing jobs for 2 times because those jobs didn't suit me at all, there is bc of my passion and bc of being underpaid. Now i've recently started my new job and it's gonna be a week now here. However, i feel not comfortable with my new job. I really wanna quit from here after a month, but i don't wanna be seen as someone who isn't loyal nor not being responsible. I don't know what I want now since I have no energy anymore to work. anyone experiencing the same situation as me?

Hi Cyan, yes, nice to meet you. In your post you do not say how old you are, but I feel like my days are going by and I have less and less energy. I cannot tell if this is physical or mental stress. Almost two months ago I applied for a position locally, I was really excited about it, I thought I did everything right however the manager was starting to become critical and it seemed like he was never pleased by anything. Then it seemed like he was making some sort of excuses and like he didn't want to work with me any longer. I offered to something for free for a while because I was really appreciative of the experience. On two separate occasions I could not meet up with him and I thought meeting up with him 13 times was enough for me to get hired. Well, he ended up hiring someone else, and my personal opinion is that he didn't like me or maybe he did not want to pay me. I was asking if I could start the job once he knew the start date for sure so that I could get paid.
Recently, I applied to another job. I did this because I normally freelance. The work has been slow and I thought it would be a good idea to have a job to go to in person. Well, it turns out this company is understaffed and I found out one of the female workers as well a male worker actually have injuries from lifting things. The female worker is not supposed to be doing this type of work but she says she offered to do it. They are also understaffed in other areas and the job description is very vague. I reluctantly went there yesterday as they called me. I was supposed to go there today but did not. I also found out their accountant quit the job recently. Now, I feel like I don't want to do the job and I feel like a horrible person for not wanting to do it. On top of this, I am only getting older and now concerned that the more time goes by, the less someone will want to employ me in a somewhat "normal" position. I am honestly concerned because the skills I have are those of working online, and I am afraid I will not be good for anything else.
I am really not sure why I feel so horrible about everything. I guess I was dreaming of moving on and doing something meaningful or better, only to find out that the jobs I looked into did not work out and not better.
So, with that said, I really do hope you do not feel bad and keep looking for what you want. I really hope you do not feel like you have to settle as that would never work out in the end for anyone. But in any case, I really hope that things work out for you
Hello. I am 28 this month. I apologize that i didn't really write that up on my post. I also think about physical and mental stress as well. Like maybe i am in this phase where everything is so tiring and you just wanna do nothing. Idk if that 28 is the right age but i feel like it is.
I'm sorry for your experience through getting the job. You are not horrible at everything, it's just you haven't found some sparks at what you're doing. I also felt the same thing as you like when i wanted to work, idk what i wanted to become. But at the end i believe that education field plays part in my life. So i am sure youre good at something.
Thank you anyway for your nice words at the end..it means a lot.

Hi Cyan,
I am in the exact same situation like you. I just started my job and feel zero passion and excitement for it. This will be my fourth week at the job and I'm just done with it already. I want to shift out of this speciality and do something else. It been a struggle for me to get a handle of what is going on because everything is going so fast. I'm feeling lost like you too. I don't if I should push through it and stay for a year or quit right now. I hope it gets better for you.
Hello! I read the original post and saw myself at 22 years old. I graduated from college and had no idea what I would do in life. This period lasted almost 4 years. I'm glad that my parents supported me when I changed jobs. Yes, I think that this is what you should do when you realize that you are at a dead end. Now I have my own big fast food business and I have my own problems with it. When I get stressed, I start to switch myself by thinking through plans to improve my business. Yesterday I was looking at options for new Commercial Sinks - https://www.amgoodsupply.com/commercial-sinks This calms you down and makes you switch from emotions to dry numbers and facts. Try adapting this technique to your case. Make your business plan taking into account all the employment options that are available to you.
Hi!
I was a new college graduate and was hired after practicum. I worked for a little over 4 months and quit. It has been a month since quitting. I quit without a job in line but I did this because I was like you.. work was stressful and I dreaded it every single day. My mental and physical health went downhill fast.
Like you, I did not want to seem like someone who was not able to keep a job, but I knew to myself that I only have one life, one body… I have to follow my own heart and if that means quitting, then so be it. I contemplated about quitting long before I finally resigned. Im lucky that I am not financially responsible for anything and my family’s supportive of me. Up to now, I still have no job and to be honest, it has been a stressful and difficult journey finding a new job. But, I feel proud of myself for choosing my own health over anything and anyone. My advice is, you know yourself the most.. your abilities, your limitations. I just want to say Im proud of you for being self-aware and being able to be vulnerable. I also want to let you know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE in this.
I want to start off by saying, and I'm not trying to be negative, but real, that you can find a job that is your passion, has great pay and benefits, checks all the boxes on your "this job is for me" sheet, and still lose your passion for it. I started my career in 1997 and absolutely loved my job. Here I am 3 years from retirement and can't stand it. Somewhere I along the way I lost my passion. I can't say where, when or why it happened. But it did. Now I am so far in that I feel like I have to tolerate it to make it to retirement. I commend you for hanging in there and not wanting to be seen as some who isn't loyal or responsible. It is important to be able to show that quality when you do find your passion. If you aren't sure what work will make you passionate, may I suggest you contact a career counselor? Maybe a therapist can help with coping mechanisms at your current place of employment until you find what you are looking for, and possibly even help you figure out what you passion is. I'm just throwing out options to think about or try. With that said, you also need to take care of yourself. I can't tell you the right answer, but I can tell you that there are others in situations like yours. I have been in contact with a listener or two on here who have been very helpful. Maybe you can give that a try. Search these forums. You may find ideas that work for someone else that you can adjust and spin them to your situation. That is what I did and it has been very helpful to me. Please feel free to come back and vent here also if need be. Getting your frustrations out can be very helpful. Keep us updated.
