Europe is a diverse and interesting continent where some of the worlds greatest cultures and civilizations originated. Despite this continent being the second smallest among seven continents in the world, it is the third most populated one. There are thousands of places in Europe that are worth visiting and so many interesting facts to write about but I have picked up 5 that you probably didnt know before reading this!

1. Liechtenstein is a very small country. During its last military engagement in 1866 they sent out 80 soldiers and came back with 81. Apparently they made a friend in Italy.

2. Perucica in Bosnia is one of the last rainforests in Europe. That's right, Europe has rainforests!

3. The Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona is taking longer to build than the pyramids (it was started in 1882 and no, it is not done yet).

4. There used to be lions on the European continent and became extinct approximately in 1000 AD.

5. There are more UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Europe than any other continent in the world.
