Hi Ryou, thanks so much for making this lovely thread! Moving to another country, especially when that country is very culturally different to your own, and it can be really overwhelming and isolating, so it's fantastic that you're asking for help! How long have you been in Germany now, have you been able to fill your days okay? I've quite a few friends from the Middle East and Eastern Africa who have been forced to settle in France, so I know just what an upward battle it can be!

I'm at university in the UK studying German, so I remember the early days of learning the language well - I was very lucky to have a great teacher and I had the luxury of making the choice to study, not being forced to by necessity.

In terms of language learning resources, langsam gesprochene Nachrichten (News read slowly) is a great way to practice listening to German - it's the daily news reports, but slowed down, and also with a transcript, I love it! And it's also very calming. The whole Deutsche Welle website is also pretty cool, there are lots of things to read and do.

As regards making new friends and meeting people, that's a lot harder to do! If you are allowed to volunteer, that can be a great way to meet new people, beef up your CV and practice a language - or even connecting to a local religious group, if you practice a particular faith.

I hope this helps, and good luck!
