Dallas shootings
I don't know what to feel. As an officer,my heart breaks, Im angry, Im scared. Its a scary feeling to have to leave my house and wonder will I be shot today? When all I want is to do my job,keep my neighborhood safe and come home to my family.
I know there are officers who cant handle the stress,make bad decisions and who shouldnt be in uniform at all. But I dont think that justifies gunning down officers who are only trying to do their job.
@Tortello9915 Hello. I saw on the news this morning, what had happened. It solves nothing, just creates more anger, more hate. I'm very sorry that, as an officer, you face that, see that, and are judged simply by wearing a uniform. No civilian should ever be under threat, let alone killed, by people who are there to protect them. Equally, no officer should ever lose their life this way, for no reason, no chance to protect themselves. Sadly, some people in this world see revenge as a solution. It isn't. It doesn't bring people back, doesn't change anything, it's more loss, more fury, more going round and round in circles. We all share the same sky and maybe people lose sight of that. There is always more good though, I truly believe that. As an officer, you must see so much that is bad in the world, darkness in people, situations, and something as terrible as this highlights that. You go home to your family, and all that love and light. They are the reason to keep striving in all you do. They must be incredibly proud of you, of all you stand tall for, of everything you try to do to make this world a better place. I know there's nothing anyone can say to take the fear, anger and pain away. You are stronger and better than it is, that's all. If you need to talk, always here. Take care, Jan
@Tortello9915 There's just too much violence in America, period. There is no good reason for what was done in Dallas, and you should not have to do your job in the kind of fear for your life that you describe.
It's also very true that some Americans react with fear to police officers on account of their race. This too is deeply wrong. Obviously a violent response to this injustice is neither just nor effective; quite the opposite.
In the long run, the solution is to become more unified as a nation and less violent. Sadly, the very recent trend seems to be the opposite.
I hope you remain safe and are able to do your very necessary job well. Thank you for all you do!
I agree with you, just because there are some bad policemen who shouldn't be in that line of work, it doesn't mean all cops are bad. I'm so sorry you feel so afraid to go to work everyday ❤
@Tortello9915
i agree. Sure, there are corrupt policemen. But in no way does that justify gunning down one/those you come across! And just because you are a police, doesn't mean that you are the symbol of what's wrong with America.
I admire you for being brave and acting upon the wish to keep others safe. Currently it seems to be getting more and more dangerous just to wear a badge...
Thank you for being willing to face the risk..!
