Hello to all of my wonderful Canadian friends out there and welcome to the forum thread if you haven't seen it yet!

This is the section for everything Canadian. I want you to feel free to participate as if this is your home because, let's face it, we can still celebrate our Canadian pride here on 7COT!

I'd like to break the ice (and we all know how far ice breaking jokes can go about Canada).

1. I love being Canadian because we are so blessed in this country. We truly do have so much freedom. And I'm allowed to practice my religion and go to church without fear of being persecuted. That's such a blessing to me.
2. I really want to do more travelling in Canada!! I gotta say Vancouver BC area is really pretty and scenic. I loved it. But I also absolutely love Ontario Parks!! Like InverHuron, Algonquin, Grundy.... so many beautiful scenic places. I can never choose a favourite. Too many options.
3. I'm really into music and reading. And I'm also a very studious person. And my faith is very important to me.

1. Absolutely, I agree. We are blessed to be in such an accepting, loving, compassionate and understanding culture. I am so happy you feel safe here and appreciate your words and enthusiasm.
2. I also want to do more travelling in Canada! Vancouver is beautiful. I love the view of the mountains on the horizon. That is something I dont get here! All of the places you mentioned sound absolutely enchanting. I dont have much experience with Ontario parks but I sure would like to get around to it.
3. Its very nice to learn more about you. I also love music and reading and am very committed to my studies. I love your passion about spirituality.

I am PolarCat... I selected this name because... well... I like cats and it is cold here. Where I live we get about 8 months of winter. I have actually seen snow every month with the exception of July.
What do I love about being Canadian? I love the friendliness and politeness - and the jokes that go with that. :)
Where is the place that you love most in Canada? White Rock Beach in BC. I actually grew up out there - I no longer live there now. But, that is the place I return to every time I visit. I could sit in the grass by the train tracks and watch the tide for hours.
Something interesting about me? Hmm... *thinks* I run. I am part of a run club. Presently, I only do 5k runs, but I have goals of doing longer runs as I progress in my training. My next goal is to run a 10k in April. My ultimate goal is to run a marathon.
I am curious to read responses from others. :)

1. I also love the jokes. I dont think theyre so bad. So what if we say sorry for everything? At least were mindful of others!
2. Ive never been to White Rock Beach, although I have been to British Columbia. That sounds absolutely beautiful. I love living near the ocean. I find it so peaceful. I can only imagine how many wondrous thoughts come up when you re-visit that place.
3. A marathon! Thats something we have in common although in the peak of my running I got injured with shin splints. I would love to run one, one day, but itll take a lot of physiotherapy to get to that point unfortunately. I admire your spirit and commitment!

@Lee Thanks. I have a long way to go to get there, but I intend to. I just have to keep at it. I imagine it is a few years out yet. :)
This is one of my 3 aliases used when I don't want to use my primary username online... but after 20yrs and a LOT of forums, it's easy to locate me if you dig with that name...
1> Even though we're all identify with our hereditary cultures, we're still all Canadian when asked. Doesn't matter if you're German, Ukrainian, French, Irish, Scottish, Dutch, or even English... there's going to be a local cultural group to keep it alive... but we're all still Canadian.
2> Born and raised in Saskatchewan, still love small towns. I've driven most of Alberta and Saskacthewan by truck.
3> I'm a jack of all trades, overqualified in one field, apprenticeship in 2 others, and unoffically trained in pretty much everything else... I know enough about enough to be dangerous at almost everything ;) That confidence to say 'I think I know how to do that'.

1. I absolutely love that about Canada as well. We can all identify as Canadian, even if we have other cultural identities. The Canadian-ness remains and we can all collectively rejoice in that.
2. Its been awhile since Ive been to Sask but it is certainly special. Are there any big cities you like (Saskatoon, Regina?) or are you more of an outskirts kind of person

I still prefer smaller places. Originally from a town with 250 there at harvest, near a town of 1500 during the school year. Moved to Fort Mac 2010-2013, was in Yorkton last year for work until that crashed too... right now I'm in a major city waiting for work to pick up in the smaller ones again ;)
As far as trades... I'm officially trained in IT, Electronics Tech (vid on demand head-end equipment, point to point wireless data systems, 2-way radio [conventional and trunked]... warranty, QA, and regional management), and doing my apprenticeship in dual trade Steel Fabricator & Welder.
Unofficially trained as a mechanic, plumber, carpenter, machinist, and electrician...
Prefer electronics work, but I'm over qualified...

1. There's a lot I love about being Canadian. There's poutine, nanaimo bars, pecan butter tarts, Timmie's, peameal bacon, etc. Can't forget about the music either (The Tragically Hip, Rush, Blue Rodeo). Oh yeah, and everything else everyone has mentioned xD
2. I live in Ontario, and have only ever been to Quebec. I'd love to travel around more in Canada. Algonquin Park is amazing though D:
3. I can't think of anything interesting, but I'm currently training to climb the CN Tower in October.

1. I love this: food and music. You bring up some strong points Miss Helena. I think I need to return to Rush now that youve mentioned them. Cant forget those guitar solos.

I assume Helena means the stairwell inside. :)
One day I would love to do the walk around the outside of it. I think they call it the skywalk? We were there in 2011 and it was super windy. We were able to go to the upper pod, but they were not doing the skywalk that day. The upper pod was swaying so much it felt like we were on a boat. Super cool!

Hey everyone, I'm QuietDime4559!
1. One thing I love about Canada is the summer. A Canadian summer is a lot shorter than in most other places due to the cold weather we have most of the year, but to me that's what makes our summers so special. They are so brief that I always want to make the most of them when they do come around.
2. I guess my favourite place in Canada is Quebec City. I went there a few years ago with my uncle for a week and it was like stepping into a totally new country. There's so much history and beautiful buildings there (though I don't speak French, which is really too bad).
3. As for something interesting about me, I will say that while I've never travelled outside of the country, I've been to a few places in Canada (Ottawa, Quebec City, Victoria, and Kelowna). With a country as big as Canada, you really don't necessarily have to leave it to have a major vacation (though you can if you want to, of course!)

Torontonian here. Hope everything is going well for you all, and that school and/or work aren't too crazy! Really like this concept of being able to connect more with my fellow beavers, hehe.
Speaking of "breaking the ice" - Who's going to be watching the game vs USA @ 7 PM?? :D
1.) What do you love about being Canadian? More like: What don't I love about being Canadian? (Am I right or am I right? :P)
But in all honesty, it's a wonderful place FULL of culture. Toronto is probably the most multicultural city in the world and I love that, because it's a good example of universal acceptance and love that people should really have more of. So truly blessed and lucky to be living here. The freedom to live as we do in such a developed place is really a privilege as well. Also: SNOW!
2.) Which palce in Canada do you love most? ALL THE PLACES. But I've actully never travelled outside of Ontario, so I suppose I really can't say yet!
3.) Something about me: I'm a martial artist and writer.
