Just moved in Mexico and I feel alienated.
My family just moved to Mexico two months ago because my dad got a job offer there. I was enrolled in a very prestigious university in Mexico and I got so much culture shock. Everything is really a foreign event for me. I feel so alienated because few of my classmates are scary to befriend with. There are still students who seem friendly but majority of them are quite unfriendly. I don
@clairerich18 I am sorry you feel alienated at a new place. I do not know anything about Mexican people, but I can say that it helps when we look to be there for others, as little as they allow. Like giving them good gestures and good smile. But if someone is not good with you and treats you bad, maybe forgiving them along with not letting them harm you (by keeping away a little from them maybe), is a help.

As someone who's hispanic, it all depends on the person really.
You can't really "know" how go befriend mexican people because well...there's different types with different personalities around!
But perhaps maybe you're observing only one group of Mexicans? I suggest looking around to find ones that seem very friendly and open to conversation, at least that's what I do anyway.
Can you speak spanish? That may be why you're feeling alienated, many mexicans aren't fluent in English. Maybe you can try to find someone who's bilingual as well.
All in all, just try to branch out and talk to the ones who are just as social! I understand your difficulties of moving into a new country, it must be so intimidating. But I know you can get through it.

Oh I forgot to mention! I suggest trying to read about their culture so you can get a better idea of it. Its also beneficial because this may bring you closer to them if you knew about mexicans and their struggles, you can find someone to relate too.

Hi Clairerich, I'm Mexican living in California the social status in Mexico is very strong divided it means if you speak Spanish with the English assent the are not going to accept you, but be you is people there who willing be your friends. The feel intimidated because you are American. Let me know what university are attending good luck
