In honor of Mardi Gras being celebrated tomorrow, I wanted to share some information on the holiday! Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is the holiday that precedes Ash Wednesday. Here in America, the biggest celebration takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana because of the big French influence. Mardi Gras was introduced to the United States by the Le Moyne brothers, who were French Catholics. They were sent to Louisiana by King Louis XIV to defend France's claim on the land. Today, there are always huge parades, elaborate costumes and big parties down in New Orleans!
