@HealingTalk

How have you been feeling these days?

Somewhat ok for a change. I know it most likely won't last for long so trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

How was your week overall?

Overall, some slight ups and major downs. Not the best week but had worse, I guess.

Which were the brightest moments in your week? How did you feel about them?

Yesterday, pretty much. We're staying with my partner's family for the midsummer weekend to celebrate it and all. They're the rare kinda ppl that seem to understand how to be with me so it's been pretty nice.

Which were not-so-bright moments? What did you feel?

The week up until coming here. Major mood swings, negativity and all that.

What do you wish to achieve this weekend?

Try to be me without faking things, and try to not feel bad about that.

@OneErased

Thank you for checking in!

I am glad that you have been feeling good these days, and that you are aware and appreciate it in itself.

You are wise in cherishing the good times. Life throws us too many bad ones, so we have to "magnify" and focus on the good ones in our minds to take full advantage of them.

How wonderful that you are enjoying the weekend surrounded by nice people, the pleasant company of your partner's family!

A nice, friendly family is a good environment for enjoying socializing while feeling at ease at the same time.

I agree that being authentic is a most valuable goal. I think it's more important than happiness, which is the typical ultimate goal for most people.

Thanks, unfortunately the good times and such are a cause for much of the negativity these days, but I definitely try to enjoy those good ones when they are happening. And working on it with my shrink.

Just wanted to say thanks for the thorough replies you give on the check ins. They're among the best and most thoughtful I've seen, and they're highly appreciated.

@OneErased

How paradoxical that good times create negativity!

It surely is something significant to work with your therapist.

Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words regarding my replies!

All the best!

Marcelo.

@HealingTalk

Hi, Talk,

  • How have you been feeling these days? I feel like I've been shot and am recovering.

  • How was your week overall? It was brutal through Wednesday afternoon. I've just been recovering.

  • Which were the brightest moments in your week? How did you feel about them? Having the Carmax offer to pay for all the repairs and offer me a paid-rental until my car is ready. I was vindicated.

  • Which were not-so-bright moments? What did you feel? Actually having to tell the salesman at the car dealership to stop talking and to go away, then me getting up and walking away while he was still droning on. I felt ok. I kept my cool and was in control, but it was just one of the bullets in the sucky process.

  • What do you wish to achieve this weekend? relaxation when not at work. I work saturday and sunday.

Hi!

Thank you for chchecking in

I am glad that you are recovering after that very bad moment

So great that you obtained the financing solution you deserved for repairing your car! Congratulations!

Car salespeople are known for being extremely talkative, which might get annoying at times.

I wish that this weekend you find some moments of peace and calm to relax and wind down.

Thanks again for checking in

All the best!

Marcelo.

@HealingTalk

How have you been feeling these days?

Sad. Afraid. Anxious. Guilty.

How was your week overall?

Horrible. Had ups but mostly downs.

Which were the brightest moments in your week? How did you feel about them?

Brightest moments were just being in bed and dreaming.

Sometimes when I laugh, I'd feel guilty afterwards. I just hope that stops.

Which were not-so-bright moments? What did you feel?

When I break down. Maybe I deserve to be sad? I mean. Isn't it normal to feel sad after someone's untimely passing?

What do you wish to achieve this weekend?

Maybe walk my dogs. Maybe get out of bed. Maybe finish the drawing of him.

Hello!

Thank you for checking in.

I am sorry that you are having all such negative feelings.

While painful, they are normal during a grieving process.

Even feeling undeserved guilt is a common emotion during grieving. Many people feel guilty of staying alive when a loved one has gone, or for good things they didn't do to him in the past.

Even if it seems that the pain will last forever, even if you feel your duty to feel this way, with time you will begin to feel better.

Sadness won't vanish, but it will become more like a memory than a painful dagger always piercing your chest.

In the process, you will start experiencing short moments of peace and even fun and happiness. Let those be and enjoy them. They are natural, you have the right to them, and your loved one would have liked that you feel well now. Would have wished the best for you.

How lovely that you are making a drawing of him! That is such a loving homage, a powerful expression of love and loyalty.

I wish you continue doing a healthy grieving process, and gradually feel a bit better as time passes.

All the best!

Marcelo.

Yeah... I'm feeling anxious and worried about his family as well as mine.

I am not sure how I can support mine without his help. I feel so stressed but I would have exchanged everything in the world just to have him alive. Even if he couldn't help me.

He is way more than a boyfriend. He was the person I want to build a future with. I wanted to do so many things with him.

What now?

Too many troubles follow the loss of a loved one. So, on top of the sadness for the loss, you suddenly have to deal with these new problems, exactly at the time you feel less able to do it.

Try to reach out for help. Ask extended family members and friends to come more often, to relieve you a bit from your emotional support responsibilities towards your family. So tehy feel surrounded by a larger support network and not are so dependent on you.

Also if financial issues are involved, look for help during this time, from any who can, from family to friends or even a bank.

I imagine the feeling of an empty future after all your life plplansyour projects and aspirations, all of which involved his active presence were abruptly shattered.

What now?

Not that future has become empty.

There is only day-to day living and coping.

Don't worry or try to fill that void. It is real and genuine.

Shift your focus to the immediate present, and take care of yourself as much as possible.

As you get better, this emptiness, this void, will be the source of new projects, new aspirations, new life plans.

It is too early for that now. But you can be sure that it will happen in due time.
