I'm feeling absolutely terrible at the moment. I've been crying all morning to the point where I can't anymore, and I feel like my parents don't give me any attention. Last night, I went into one of my states, and my parents both knew, but they just went to sleep and I couldnt sleep because everytime I tried, that familiar hopelessness consumes me and i get this hurtful heartbreaking feeling in my chest.

My current routine is not helping at all, I need some suggestions for those of you who have any. I really hate feeling helpless and out of control everyday.

I dont know any jokes that make me laugh. I haven't genuinely laughed in half a year.

@ashereet

What sorts of things have helped you in the past? I hear that what you're trying right now isn't helpful, so you might have to think of exceptions.

@ashereet,

When you are hurting, of course you want to be heard. I'm sorry that your parents aren't listening like you want. Writing out your thoughts and feelings and sharing them to a site like 7Cups is smart and helpful. It helps clarify what's going on with you for others (for you as well).

Emotions can be so intense. And depression is tough for anyone. I'm sorry you are going through this and hurting so badly.
Feeling better begins with lots of small steps, one of which you've taken by writing about your pain and sharing it.
I'm going through a loss right now so I can relate to you.

Please keep sharing. 💙

Breathe and take it one step at a time. Know that there are people here that care and that reaching out is hard. One thing to try to add to your routine is to get out and walk or do some kind of exercise even when you don't want to. Do it daily. It can really help. @ashereet

1.) How are you?

Exhausted because I was still awake past 12 a.m. this morning. I eventually went to sleep and woke up again at 9.

2.) Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal?

Exercising for at least 30 minutes a day and making healthy meals won't show results till a month or two passes. I've given myself ten months to get to my goal weight, so that's something.

3.) What cheesy joke makes you laugh everytime?

I don't remember any cheesy jokes but I always laugh at jokes from Marx Brothers movies.

1.) How are you?

I feel like I'm coping well under the circumstances. I feel lucky to still have a job and a place to live. It's still stressful at times and I feel like I'm tired a lot lately. I just keep reminding myself that it will pass.

2.) Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal?

I started doing workouts at home and I find that's bringing me closer to my goal of being active/healthy. I just have to stop snacking so much at night.

3.) What cheesy joke makes you laugh everytime?

I'm not much of a joke teller, so can't think of anything.

1.) How are you?

im ok, today has been really hard for me and i have been extremely sad and cried far too many times than i should. something i really love and made me happy was taken away from me because a family member complained about it and made up something that caused my parents to turn on me and i was yelled at first thing in the morning. i have so many people that support and love me and my parents tell me they love me every day but nothing is helping. my father tells me every time something happens where i get really sad that i'm the problem and if i was "more mature" this wouldn't of happened. i'm really trying but whenever i tell him how i feel about the situation i get yelled at and told i'm wrong and that him and my mom provide for me and my siblings so i can't treat them like that. today has been horrible f i'm going to be honest and i just want to be happy again without feeling like i'm the problem and athens reason everything happened.

2.) Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal?

talking to friends every day has really helped me, they make me happy and help me feel better about myself and make me laugh which makes me feel so much better.

3.) What cheesy joke makes you laugh everytime?

its not a joke but watching shows make me laugh some times :))

I'm sorry about the guilt tactic it sounds like your father is using on you. In my experience, one of the things that can feel best in that kind of situation is distance. If you plan on moving out ever, I imagine things will be very different for you at that point.

Hello, recently I’ve been having several issues regarding my mental health which I seek immediate help to deal with. The issue has been occurring over two weeks now, and has remained the same during this time. Although it isn’t anything overly serious, these issues are affecting my everyday life to a great extent. This all began suddenly when I watched Youtube Vlogs on students that were going to college. That was when I met the harsh reality that I would soon no longer be a child, but instead rapidly grow old and die. It was at this point that I started feeling depressed for no reason, and my mind altered to a negative way of thinking. The odd thing is, I don’t think there is any reason for me to be unhappy at the current moment.

Over the course of the last few weeks, this has evolved into severe negative thinking and sudden changes in my mood every 5-10 minutes. This is most severe during the morning when I feel extremely sad for no reason. This feeling lessens during the evening, but repeats the very next day. Examples of my negative thoughts may be nostalgia about when I was younger and how things have gone by so fast. Also, my mind just seems to wander off to negative sides of things, such as when it is about to rain, I feel that something bad will happen.

These issues have gone too far, I just want to get rid of them. To do this, I have tried reading several ‘self- help’ books and talked to a few online counsellors who haven’t fully been able to understand or cure these issues. Reading books does help, but after a while, I feel miserable once again.

Please understand my problems and help me get rid of them.

Why are they happening?

What can I do to stop them?

Even if you are able to make me feel better now, I am sure that it won’t last forever, what do I do then?

I don't think anything that you describe is abnormal. I can understand your being frightened about growing older. I guess for me one thing that has helped is realizing that I am never completely old. Yes, I have more responsibilities now, but there are still lots of fun things too. Your new life can be just as rich as when you were a child. But it takes time to get to that point where you can embrace that. Give yourself a little space to feel bad. It will get easier. @Pahulbir

1. How are you?

Not bad, thanks for asking. Getting a little hungry, though. Maybe I'll make myself some hot chocolate...or chocolate pudding.

2. Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal?

Uhh...sort of. I feel like it's a case of "Two steps forward, one step back". It's not helped by how much I oversleep.

3. What cheesy joke makes you laugh everytime?

Person A: I'm staaaaaarving.

Person B: Well, get up and get something to eat!

Person A: I can't. I'm too exhausted.

Person B: Why?

Person A: I'm staaaaaarving.

Thank you for the check-in! heart

1.) How are you?

I'm tired, lost, and sad, I don't want to go to school or do anything but I have to if because I'm scared to fail my classes. My mom is really sick and I feel useless for not being able to help in any way all I can do is cry and bury myself in work. I feel all alone my best friend went ghost I haven't seen or talked to her for almost 3 months, my 2nd friend traveled out of the country, I have shut myself from almost everyone, I'm so stressed out with my classes. Things I love doing bring no joy and sometimes I feel like I should just quit.

2.) Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal?

No, my routine isn't stable, it's very hard to reach a goal I set for myself

3.) What cheesy joke makes you laugh every time?

No jokes because I try to laugh at almost everything

I've been in a similar place to the one you're describing, and I know it's unbearably bad. I've never been much for fiction but when things were really dark I tried to find the easiest young adult fantasy novels with the best writing. Treating myself like someone a few years younger than I was seemed to help a little.

1.) How are you?

Im not sure my meds are working very well, but im taking small dosages and may need to take a higher dosage because im still stressed but better at ignoring it with my meds. my brother got angry at me the other day which actually happened a week and a half ago but it feels like it just happened and when i think about it my breath and body get shaky and i get tense my heart picks up and i almost lose my breath and i keep getting flashbacks randomly and ever since my insomnia got worse so now im on sleeping meds to knock me out and I feel like ive lost control but i have to take them so i can function good enough during school. i cut myself again yesterday but i was able to stop myself from doing anything else so its fine. Ive been stressed out because i have a lot of overdue assignments because i dont have enough time to work on them. and it hurts even worse to go to school and be called a girl and by my deadname and come home to it again it hurts putting on a mask everyday i just want to be myself. i dont have anybody to talk to about this and that hurts stuffing it down, people on here are gonna maybe read this or probably scroll because its to much writing, they might upvote, maybe think about me and send well wishes but then they will forget about me, wether it be tommorow or not and i think not having anyone to help is pushing me to the edge but i might be fine who knows.

.) Is your current routine bringing you closer to your goal? meh im not sure.

3.) What cheesy joke makes you laugh everytime? I dont really have one :/

Do you have someone safe you can connect with? A counsellor through your school or a more distant family member you trust?

The only things that have helped me in the kinds of situations you're describing are connecting with someone I trust (enough) and turning inward when those people aren't around. Yes, others can't think of us 100% of the time, but we are always within ourselves.
