Depression Support Check-in: February 25th-26th, 2021
Hi everyone! I miss all of you a lot. I hope your days have been enjoyable and better. Recently, I accidentally hurt my calf without I realised it. Now, it's become a bruise. It hurts a bit when I try to walk but don't worry, it should be healed after a few days or weeks. I just hope it won't get any severe. Enough about me, let's move to the questions I've prepared for you guys.

I felt really bad on Monday but met a friend on Tuesday. The rest of the week was better.

I need to get rid of procrastination. I have no motivation to do any of my schoolwork or anything I need to do at all. But I don't know how to get rid of it.

My days are ** overall. Not so bad last time, fut far not good as I wanted.

I'd like to drink less just by drinking less. Well, by avoiding parties (don't like them much anyway) and by dealing with depression in the other way.

A cat person. I like dogs too but cat fits me better.
@windSpirit I wish your days could have been better. I agree with you on coping with depression. There are other stuffs you could try. Maybe like spending time with your loved ones or write somehing in your journal. I'm sure it could be helpful.

2) What is a bad habit of yours that you need to get rid of and how could you accomplish that? I have 2 bad habits, 1. Reading the comics before reading the news; and eating Clif bars all the time.

So far Thursday and Friday have been awful.
On Thursday I dragged the trash cans out and went back inside, and then a crazy homeless woman started opening up all the cans and throwing garbage everywhere. I had to get out there and tell her to get the hell away from our trash cans and then I had to clean up the mess. Also a tenant knocked on my door at 7:30 p.m. to say that he didn't have any hot water. I had to call the manager who said that the plumber couldn't come that night, that it would have to be tomorrow. And it was pretty clear that the tenant had been aware of it for awhile, so waiting that long to get someone to call management about was all on him or whoever else noticed it in that building.
Friday blows because a different homeless woman who sleeps right next to our property peed all over herself, ruined her clothes, her blanket, and the stack of cardboard she was sleeping on. She then began to call for one of our tenant's boyfriend because they both regularly allow their homeless friends to come upstairs and use their shower and toilet, even though they really shouldn't.
2) What is a bad habit of yours that you need to get rid of and how could you accomplish that?
Procrastination. I could try and get rid of it by setting smaller deadlines that would allow me to keep on track with whatever I'm supposed to be doing.

@integrityblues It looks like you really had a tough time having those people around you. It must've required a lot of patience. I hope they won't disturb you anymore. A dog and a cat person sound so unique. I wish things will get resolved and better for you. *hugs*

Hi! I hope you feel better soon. Make sure to ice that bruise, and I hear that eating citrus fruits helps speed up the recovery from bruises.

I would say that overall, each day this week has been about ***. I haven't fallen as low as I have in other times with my mental health, but I am no longer bouncing off the walls with joy at being in a mentally-healthy state. I'm at a so-so state, and I find that acceptable enough. I'm neither actively hampering myself nor striving for improving myself; I'm just keeping myself stable.
2) What is a bad habit of yours that you need to get rid of, and how could you accomplish that?
I need to stop putting myself down. I could accomplish that by either retorting against my self-loathing thoughts after they occur, or if I catch myself in the midst of it, interrupt myself.

I think I'm more of a bird person. I like watching the doves, pigeons and hummingbirds that gather in my backyard. Most dogs have tried to bite me (with the exception of one or two really sweet ones), and most cats seem disdainful of me (with the exception of one softie), so the majority of my experience with either isn't as great as it is with the birds.

I love that you call yourself a bird person. Just going with dogs and cats ins't broad enough. Do you ever get out bird watching? I read a good book a few years back "The Thing with Feathers: The Surprising Lives of Birds" by Noah Stryker. It is a friendly, relaxing read. @TheAutumnWitch

Thank you, Vase! (^_^) While I haven't done any "official" bird watching, I do like to keep an eye out for birds in my free time. When I was a child, I even carried around a book on ornithology with me, and I used my colored pencils to draw birds that caught my eye and sent copies of them to my grandpa because of how he loves birds, too. Ooh, that sounds like a lovely book! I'm definitely going to look into that; I love reading as well. Thank you so much!

You're very welcome! ^_^ Funny how I handwave off my own self-worth, but a little of it can already go a long way for my mental health. I completely forgot about how birds represent freedom; that does tie in with me, too. There was a quote I read a while back that goes something like "Wild birds cannot thrive in cages", and that resonates with me. Aww, thanks!
1. Monday *** Tuesday*** Wednesday*** Thursday **Friday * Friday, because it hit my wife that she is depressed and have been using alcohol as a crutch to cover it. She told me that she isn't happy with anything. Kids, job, me, family, no one. Seriously thought our marriage was going to end. Still think it might. What is surprising is that I am not even mad right now. Really sad but not mad. She is saying all this stuff drunk right now so I am taking it seriously but remembering the context. 2. Being afraid to walk away. I am a troubleshooter by tried so I think every problem has a solution and I need to fix it. That makes me a codependent which is also awesome because I am on the narcissist spectrum. 3. I love dogs. I wish I had one right now. It would be so awesome.
It sounds like your wife was learning some important things about herself. I can understand why it made you sad. But maybe it will be a turning point for you both. @politeSail5130
