Have you heard about Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder?

I recently came across this disorder and ... According to DSM-V, it is one of the depressive disorders. Does anyone else have it? How do they treat it? What type of therapy do they carry? I would like to read to you as I am not familiar with the disorder. I suffer from it, but did not know it. That is why I feel so lost.

@Baudethe Hello, I also found out I've been suffering from PMDD recently. I haven't been treated yet but I know birth control is commonly used to treat it. How it goes for me is I start to feel very depressed in the weeks leading up to my period. I usually feel better for a week or two after and then start to feel bad again... It's hard but I know we can get through this. I've been trying to keep in touch with friends and doing things I enjoy to keep myself distracted during these times. PMDD sadly comes with a lot of other symptoms similar to PMS but worsened in most cases. I've found that taking Midol really helps if your doctor says it's safe for you to take it of course. I hope you feel better!

I hope it's not bad to bump an older-ish post, but I agree that Midol can be helpful. Also, there are some teas and CBD treatments that help with the anxiety aspect of it.

I've recently come to believe I have PMDD as well and when I brought it up to a doctor, he prescribed me hydroxyzine; I hope it helps and was wondering if anyone had any input on that.

I have PMDD and I’ve found that hydroxizine helps a lot!! I’m also on buspar to help with crazy mental mood swings..

also some good things that help:

supplements: GABBA, magnesium, 5-HTP, vitamin D, vitamin B-complex, multi vitamin and minerals

food and drink: calming teas, salmon, leafy greens, sushi, red meat. try to avoid caffeine and lots of sugar

therapy can help

and then distracting yourself is good too. things like taking walks and watching comedy or animal shows helps me😊

I hope this helps!
