What do you hate about yourself?

Depression is bizarre in how in alters the way we think. We may know logically that it is our depression making us think this way but knowing that doesn't invalidate it. So write down what exactly you hate about yourself, let it all out. Once you do look back at what you wrote. Hopefully documenting your thought process will make it easier to work through your issues. Plus we will all be here to help.

That I refuse to do things that would make me feel better. I cant accept my feelings. I cant validate myself and do what I feel would make a difference in my thoughts

It's ok to feel that way, you do you. I'm also going through that. Sometimes we need to give permission to just be ourselves just for a day. For example, I'm on a diet, theoretically speaking junk foods is a Big No No. But I'll still set a day to only a bag. Besides, I couldn't possibly deny that the chips wasn't something to make me feel good, I enjoyed it. Just that wanting the best for yourself shouldn't be coming from an obligatory point of view, the way you have to force yourself to do something. That is punishing yourself and guilt tripping. Instead, like, if you wanna quit chips, for example, it has to come within you, like damn I'm sick and tired of those chips & I wanna be healthier because... Because, something within you wants it, your soul, your being, you want it so badly you can't imagine not having it (e.g. health) or you just routinely woke up thinking I don't feel like exercising but it makes my day, it makes me feel good, I like the morning air, l like to catch up with neighbors early in the morning. In a nutshell, you did well as a starting point knowing that you want something, but sometimes that feels like an empty shell not knowing why you desire something. Find your why, it could be a feeling, it could be an inspiration from sm or somewhere, or it could be this long winded post to get yourself moving. Cheers! 😉

@KiaraMichaelis I imagine the dysphoria must be terrible. I hope that one day soon, your circumstances will allow you to afford the changes you desire. In the mean time, stay strong. All the best to you.

My mental health disorders. That depression strips me of my motivation to take care of myself, my consistency in following through with things, and leads me to a less meaningful, unfulfilled life. That anxiety makes me avoid things that shouldn't be eliciting fear under normal circumstances, which also holds me back in life. Being aware of all of this and still struggling to make any progress in meaningfully or permanently changing it for the better.

Anxiety also fills me with crippling self-doubt, which makes it hard to make accurate judgements of myself.
