“Midnight Musings Pt 2”

“A silent scream, a throat of needles,

Words trapped, a mind of steeples.

Five months fought, the edge returns,

A battle waged, a soul that yearns.

Alone in bed, the tears descend,

On one dear friend, you can't depend.

Energy drained, a hollow plea,

"See through the good," just ask of me.

Since childhood's dawn, a lonely plight,

Now solitude intensifies the night.

A mask you wear, a constant show,

To ask for help, you don't know how.

A world that crumbles, minute to minute,

To end the thoughts, the void within it.

Not life itself, but shadows deep,

A wish for peace, a chance to sleep.

What if that choice had sealed your fate?

Who would have mourned, or known the weight?

A cycle learned, a twisted guide,

To love is to condone, with nowhere to hide.

A childhood lost, a burden borne,

Protecting others, yourself forlorn.

Each day a struggle, a fragile hold,

To leave her now, a story untold.

No calls, no texts, a lonely space,

Yet still, you fight, with fading grace.

When will it end, this endless fight?

When will you find your peace, your light?

Now that she’s gone, the void expands,

No voice to share, no helping hands.

The silence screams, a constant drone,

And in this grief, you’re all alone.

The appetite wanes, a body’s plea,

Rejecting solace, refusing to be free.

Each bite a battle, a hollow taste,

In this despair, no moment embraced.

Memories linger, ghosts of the past,

Every corner, shadows cast.

The laughter silenced, the warmth now cold,

A story unfinished, a life untold.

Each sunrise brings a heavier heart,

Torn and shattered, set apart.

The world moves on, oblivious and blind,

To the silent torment of your mind.

In dreams, you reach for what’s no more,

Awakening to a painful shore.

The echoes whisper, a haunting tune,

Beneath the pale and mournful moon.

But even in darkness, a spark remains,

A flicker of hope amidst the pains.

A strength within, though buried deep,

A promise to find the peace you seek.”

@amusingYard5360 Honestly Yard, thank you for sharing your poem. I don't know if this is strange to say, but I felt a very Joy Division vibe on reading this; not much gives me that vertiginous sense of looking into the abyss (other than Ian Curtis's lyrics), but this poem did. I could actually hear how this could be lyricised, and I'm not particularly musical. There's a hollow, echoing synaesthesia here, and I mean that as a compliment.

Thank you it means a lot. It seems writing is the only way to help numb my feelings honestly.

@amusingYard5360 keep writing, yard! Producing something creative helps form new neural pathways; writing itself helps loosen the thoughts and can be very numbing and soothing. I personally am very keen to see part 3 of this series.
