Blended Family
Really struggling with being a blended family right now…I have been with my husband for 6 years. He has a daughter, I have a son, and we have a son together. The last two years have been a never ending cycle of fighting about his daughter, her mom, or other family members. Just lost and looking for advice/support from anyone else who’s been in a similar situation.
@mommatried21 Hey there. Blending families sure come with its own struggles. You are taking two separate families and combining them all in one. That's all personalities, attitudes, etc meshing together under 1 single household. There's sure to be strife at times but when it comes to love and family, it takes work. Whether blended or not. It takes work.
You have been married 6 years to your partner. In my opinion, there should not be any "his" or "mine". His daughter that you speak of is now yours. You gained a daughter. Your son that you speak of is now his. He gained a son. And the son you both created out of this marriage is so blessed to have additional siblings. <3 You all are a family. Please keep that in mind. My dad entered a new relationship when I was a kid and she eventually become my stepmom. Technically, she is no longer my stepmom since they broke up but she will always be that mother to me. I even 35+ years old am still considered a daughter of her. This is because we were family. Her son will always be considered my brother. This is what family does. Do away with the possessions and see if this helps.
Children will always test the strength of marriages. It's just how it is. But you and your husband have to stick together and have each other's back. Support each other. Do not overmine or overstep. Be a team! If there are issues concerning y'alls daughter, then you both need to sit down and talk about what is going on with her. What is the reason for the arguments. Does it really have to do with her specifically? Really think about these things. I don't know your situation but I am hoping that everything gets better. Family is important. Y'all have 3 children in the picture that need you both. I am hoping your marriage and family life thrives. May you all be loving, patient, and forgiving to each other and grow more in love and love. <3 Wishing you all the best!
It depends how you maturely deal with. However you can share what you are going through
