so this week's activity is (i had no clue lmao). what if. so comment you what ifs below and i(and hopefully others too) will respond.
I'll begin. for me, the scenario i'm giving is:.
What if the counts of all social media followers, views, likes, shares, etc were hidden? What do you think would happen?
@SkilledChatter from both viewers and OP for clarification
@SkilledChatter
In that case I think that the content would be what matters, and whether or not the source is credible wouldn't depend on the amount of people liking or disliking it.
Having a comment section might still be helpful though, to reflect on it in more detail?
I like that there would be less of a hierarchy, but the downside for news channels would be, that it's hard to distinguish if it's a valid source. So there might be a need for some kind of verification for journalist channels?
And it always depends on how people use it (:
In the more private setting (like posting pictures on social media with your friends), I'd prefer it that way. I always thought it's weird that the amount of likes has so much influence on how people view you as a person.
@Miljan(can't believe i forgot u somehow), @Mahd12, @hetetohhelp, (will add all of u to the full taglist before next week)
@SkilledChatter
If there were no view,followers etc.... We wouldn't know what others think, but it might as well be good because no negative feelings then. And no one would be famous, or at least they won't know if they are 😛
What if you could go on a vacation with one person in the world? Who would it be, what would you do?
@Luminity125 It would probably be my mother, we'd go see a lot of things together(assuming she's not like getting really angry at me). Our vacations together are always a blast
@SkilledChatter
I had no idea you'd choose your mom 😯 (I would never choose any of my family members 😆)
@Luminity125 would u choose me(jk)
@SkilledChatter
i think that'd be an awesome thing bro! it would help with stuff like self-esteem, increase the amount of genuine content as there wouldn't be a need to like clout-chase or stay within the trends and stuff, also i think it would minimise the amount of like attention-seeking, dangerous behaviour as they obviously wouldn't get any. i feel like it'd mean people wouldn't rely on others so much for validation too yk? this is a super interesting idea skil (:
@calmCucumber7857 lmk about your what if as well pls. and ur response was good, i agree that it has many positives but it would have a few negatives too
@SkilledChatter
Hmmm I haven't used any platform except YouTube, in YouTube likes, followers and views are really important. They gave feedback to the creators and for the viewers, it would be helpful as well to know which video might be worth their time or something like that. So if they were hidden it would be pretty difficult.
I think it would definitely be an interesting idea, since I know people are definitely influenced by likes and everything on a video, but this seems to still be a world where you can get money from the videos, which I think is amazing! You not being able to see other people’s likes and see what’s popular or trending can really be an eye opener and allow people to use their creativity to create such good content, instead of people hopping on a hype train and playing certain games when they are popular. You could obviously probably still determine certain trends but you probably get my point…
Forgot my what if. What if you had to listen to one more song and then never listen to any music again, what song are you picking and why? Would you sing like a beast or enjoy it in silence?
@chostof ohhhhh that's soooooooo toughhhh. im picking starboy cause i like it, its calming, can listne when ahppy or sad. prob would hum along not sing tho(maybe sing)
@chostof wbu?
@SkilledChatter It wouldn't matter to me, for I do not care about followers (Most of my social media accounts are hidden already).
@EternalMisery333 in the whole scale, how would it affect everyone. it'd proably affect your feed wouldn't it. that's what i'd like to know. and what's your waht if?
@SkilledChatter It probably wouldn't affect anyone XD nor my feed tbh
Oh yeah I forgot about the what if, okay ;P
What if you had to live in another country outside of Asia, which one would it beee???
@EternalMisery333 probably swizerland, i hear its awesome there
@SkilledChatter sweet
@EternalMisery333
I think it could be somewhere in Europe, maybe England or Italy, or maybe even America, California side though with beaches (i love beaches) not sure never been out of my country 😝
@SkilledChatter
Thank you for tagging me. I believe people would stop seeking validation and some may even grow anxious.
@trueconfidant123 yeah, that coukld happen, and what's you what if
@SkilledChatter
What if there was no concept of WiFi?
@trueconfidant123 that'd change the world completely, can't even begin to imagine
@SkilledChatter
I know. I had no WiFi at home until COVID. 😅
@trueconfidant123
We would just exhaust our mobile data? 😅
@Luminity125
Mobile data is costlier and works slow, at least for me. I remember having to sit by the window for my online lectures. Then it would abruptly disconnect and I'd lose my attendance. It was a nightmare without WiFi. I can't imagine how I survived then lol.
@trueconfidant123
Oh yes depends on the service providers, some are better than the others. My mobile data just doesn't work at home, it works fine outside though 😂
@SkilledChatter
I guess it wouldn't be as addictive and people won't use it as much, since the whole point of social media is to be "seen" and "liked" as much as possible.
What if people could see their futures?
@PenelopyCookie yeah, that'd be rtrue. if ppl could see their futures they['d definitely try changing it
@PenelopyCookie
It would mess with time, people would try to change it, be more stressed than needed.
