Depression from past trauma
I have a lot of unhealed past trauma. I can’t find peace and learn to trust again. It’s destroying my soul and my current relationship
Hi @HollyJade14
I understand how tough things must be for you. It's really hard to deal with past trauma that hasn't healed yet. It affects your well-being and ability to trust in a big way. Have you considered talking to a kind therapist or counsellor? They have the knowledge to help you heal and find peace deep within yourself. Also, it might be helpful to have open and honest conversations with your partner, so you both can feel safe and understood. Just remember, healing takes time. But if you're patient and committed, you can start a journey towards rejuvenation and restoration.
I wish you all the best 🤗

Thanks do much for the response! I have tried both of those things in depth. I have sessions with a trauma counseling specialist once a week. And I’ve asked my partner for reassurance. My councillor is helping but not much you can get through in an hour a week and my partner just things I should be healed and he shouldn’t be punished for my past trauma. I am mostly feeling unheard and so so so lonely. He went from being my everything to telling me he feels smothered and I want to give the space but I also want safety and reassurance which I think is valid in any relationship, not just one after abuse. I can’t shake the feeling something more is going on… I just need some kind of solid knowledge to get the peace I need to move forward.
I really appreciate that you're grateful for my reply. It seems like you've already put in a lot of effort to deal with your concerns. It's really impressive that you've reached out to a trauma counsellor and talked to your partner about what you need. It can be tough to find solutions in just one counselling session a week, and it can be really disheartening when your partner doesn't understand or downplays what you've been through. It's totally understandable that you feel unheard and alone in this situation. It's really important to feel safe and reassured in any relationship, especially after going through abuse. I totally get why you want solid knowledge to find peace and move forward. Maybe you can talk to your counsellor about these concerns and see if there are any other resources or support groups that could give you the insights and guidance you're looking for ❤️
