"Empty nest" transition

My youngest moved 11 hours away, about 4 weeks ago, for college. I am beyond proud and happy for him! I knew this would be hard for me but I wasn't quite expecting to feel this much sadness, feeling "lost", and probably depression. I am just not seeing that its going to "get better." I have tried finding support groups dealing with this transition and haven't found anything.

I just cant wrap my mind around how to feel joy and peace again. Anyone who struggled with this have advice? Thank you

I think most parents feel this way and act as if they do not.  there is not a one way to change things... there will be times you are lonely.

Did you ever have a list of things you could or would do when the kids were gone?    is there an hobbies or groups you may want to join?

i found in talking about it  IRL,  I got the 2 types.

First type:  is ppl who lie and say everything was fine they never had a problem kind of snap out of it advice. they also are the type that one ups all in any situation.

second type:  are people who never face it because they have IMO stunted  their grown kids  to have them always dependent  on them and needing them.
