Feeling Behind and Alone
Ive been on a gap year, and all my friends are abroad in university getting on with their life. Recently I’ve been feeling so behind compared to them. I fee like everyone has a social life, everyone goes out and is keeping busy and I’m not. I’m constantly at home, I’m trying to get an internship so I can just get out of the house but it’s taking a while. And I just don’t know what to do with myself. Seeing my friends and other people go out at bars and just live life makes me feel so bad about myself and just alone. I’m not sure what to do that can make me feel better and less alone.

There's no timeline.
We all do things at different times.
I know, it's hard not to compare.
But I hope you get the internship and in the meantime, maybe you could join a club where you'd meet new people 💜💖

hi,i understand you very well and just so you know you re not alone in this. i believe this is just a matter of time where you feel alone in order to learn to enjoy spending time with yourself, and, who knows, maybe you are being safe from people who might not actually be your friends. dont forget the real ones will make time for you. everything will be fine 🫶🫶🫶 find yourself, find what you like to do, find what makes you feel good, find new habits. take care of yourself and you will attract good things in your life. Jesus loves you💗🙏 and you are strong for having the courage to admit what you feel and even more sharing with others.
@Thabelo04 I also feel behind in life, but under different circumstances. I am 25 and I have a horrible disability and my emotionally abusive and controlling family holds guardianship over me that they will never release! My horrible disability also prevents me from being able to drive and my family won't allow me to use the public transportation, so I can't get around on my own! When I go to stores with my brother, he still makes me pick between 2 items like an elementary schooler and will tell me "put it back"! I keep losing rights and freedoms as I get older instead of gaining them and keep regressing instead of progressing! Some other examples of my brother's controlling behavior and restrictions include not allowing me to add bacon to burgers anymore when there is only a small charge, only being able to get fountain drinks from McDonald's with combo meals & no longer being allowed to get shakes, smoothies, or frappés just because of the few dollar upcharge, only being able to get 2 dipping sauces at KFC instead of 3 when the KFC in my town only charges 35 cents a cup, being unable to get a free newspaper at Walmart & having to "put it back," having to choose between a box of strawberry Moon Pies which were only a few dollars & an individual vanilla or chocolate one that is only 69 cents at Save-a-lot, not being able to get a microwaveable tray of Hormel salisbury steak for $2.30 at Menard's, and no longer being able to get 2-liters from restaurants! When my brother does this, it is also humiliating beyond words! I desperately want to escape, but every time I beg my family to release the guardianship, they yell at, verbally abuse, and scapegoat me! I am so far behind in life that people who are 5, 10, even 15 years younger than me are further ahead of me in life!
