How can I learn to live a life of solitude
I'm 27 and have never been in a relationship and it's highly likely I will never be in one.
At this point I'm noticing a pattern in which every time I'm taking an interest in someone it's never reciprocated no matter what. It doesn't matter if we have shared hobbies, interests or even values.
It always seems like women just can't see me in that way no matter what type of woman I approach or how. This has been happening to me since I was in highschool.
Every woman I come across will eventually be interested in someone else and only see me as an acquaintance (making a move only gets me rejected sooner rather than having to go through disappointment later on). That is if they aren't already in a relationship or dating someone.
All I can ever really think of in terms of what makes me so undatable is that years ago I was told that I don't seem like I'm comfortable with other people, and come across as "hedgehog-like" inspiring great anxiety and negativity rather than confidence. In all honesty I have no idea as to how to change that because it's just part of who I am. I am an angsty, edgy graphic artist/designer and alternative rock musician who's very socially awkward, dry and nihilistic. Thus, being bad at dating might very well just be part of my DNA to begin with, I am grateful though that I at least have friends.
I feel totally worthless when it comes to dating which is why I have no other choice but to retreat myself from it entirely and be content with living life alone. Who knows, perhaps that's what the Universe has in store for me anyway and I'm just choosing to resist it.

I can relate to this in a way. Whenever I was interested in someone or actually dating someone it always ended up with me being cheated on, taken for granted, taken advantage of and then thrown away like a piece of trash. I am pretty misanthropic to begin with (and then sprinkle in my severe depression and cynical attitude), so when I do find someone I click with I try to make the best of it and put in 100%. Then one of the aforementioned scenarios takes place. And don’t even get me started on the ones who just want sex. So I am with you when it comes to dating. I’ve given up and I honestly don’t care anymore. I am sick and tired of all the bs games. I am used to being alone. People always say there is someone for everyone, but that simply is not true. So I say *** it and just focus on yourself. Continue doing your art and your music. Do things for YOU that make you happy, because, in the end, you are the only one you can truly count on in life.
