I feel like a failure…

… and I feel that way often. And I feel like people just don’t like me.

Why am I here today? Backstory: I’m a music teacher and have been for almost 20 years. A year or so ago, I needed something new in my life, and a former student of mine just happened to be starting a new music group and asked me to audition. I got in, and had a blast. They recently had re-auditions and new auditions for this coming season and…

… I wasn’t chosen. They sent me a long rejection email saying, essentially, that I was too good for the group.

Honestly, what is wrong with me?

@MelancholyMusicMan 20 years of being a music teacher, well that's an amazing achievement in it's own ❤ I believe those people, I think you are to good for them. Ok so that's two chapters of your life, time for chapter 3. Above anything else what is one thing you'd love to learn/try/do??

@MelancholyMusicMan

I think you enjoyed the experience with group and of course you feel left out but it happens in auditions and interviews or whatever that you were not chosen.   If you want new in your like perhaps there are other groups you could audition for ?   find others in with similar interests on the many meeting apps.

perhaps it is harder as you felt like you know the group and former student but perhaps that was step one and the next group / experience / people you meet make it even more rewarding.
