I have high functioning depression and I feel like I'm withering away inside

I feel like my life is going wrong even though everything is going okay on the outside. For starters:

  1. I'm about to graduate highschool. I HATE highschool and I'm so glad I'm leaving. I hated it for who I am, the people there, and just missing out on a highschool experience. I never got the chance to experience highschool with my classmates form my old school, and that realization haunts me very much. I can finally move on and do something with my life.

  2. I'll be getting a job. I reached to some old classmates and they're gonna be my job referral. First off, I'm extremely greatful (given the job market nowadays) and happy because I get to potentially work with my old friends, and I'll potentially never get bored. However, I'm probably not gauranteed the job yet, so that what I'm worried about.

  3. I'll be hanging out with my friends (old classmates) on the day of graduation. I'm excited.

  4. I've worked hard. I feel like I accomplished stuff: good grades, dual enrollment classes, and getting a job referal.

  5. I want to go to college for a career that'll guarantee me financial stability.

  6. I plan to go out more and maybe even dress up a little. I want to get out of my shell and do something different with my life.

All these I should feel proud of... But I barley feel happy. All the stuff I get depressed or anxious about ruins the mood and makes me scared of the future. I feel like I don't have regular depression and it's more high functioning. I like to think I'm keeping myself motivated due to fear of falling behind, however deep inside I want to give up. I feel like I want to drop everything I'm currently doing and do nothing all day and rot inside my room for the rest of my life. If I were to do this, obviously I'd be even more depressed and anxious, however id feel oddly safe and comfortable for some reason. Everything is making me stressed so hypothetically if I were to stay inside and do nothing, I'd be protecting myself from the harsh reality of responsibility. Whoever is reading this, do not do what I've described it'll only make things worse and less easy to get out of. I know I should be telling myself this but honestly I don't see it. Luckily, I don't plan to just drop everything I've worked hard for to do nothing for the rest of my life. What I've said earlier is just a bunch of depressing thoughts of mine. However those emotions and feelings are very much real and I still have thoughts of giving up. I'll continue to push myself to do what I expect my self to do, but I feel like I mentally need a break after what I've been going through lately.

Hi! Hi I really understand you I'm also in a situation very similar to yours. What I could advise you is maybe to take some time for yourself, even just a few minutes a day. I think it can help maybe. For me, for example, writing helps a little or even drawing.

I hope it can help you!❤️
