Late Night Thoughts?
I just remembered something. I’m not sure what my age was at this time, somewhere between 8-12, I remember just sitting in my room during the day or night, with the lights on and door wide open, hoping that someone would walk by and see me breaking, because I couldn’t get myself to ask for help. And everytime I did this, I either sat there for a whole hour and then gave up, or my mom or dad would walk past and notice the light was on, but because there was no noise coming from my room they didn’t even look in. They would just stick their hand in the doorway and hit the lightswitch to turn the lights off, leaving me in the dark. Sometimes, just as they went to turn the lights off, I would announce my presence and say ‘hey’ or something like that, but they still didn’t notice, and they’d turn off the lights. I always got left alone, no acknowledge, left in the dark, alone with my thoughts. They only reason I remembered all that was because I just did the same thing tonight, just to see. And guess what? I’ve never been so afraid of the dark before.
