Loneliness

My cat and only friend — Nallah — disappeared a few days ago. I haven't realised how empty my life without her is. I've been wandering around my block for two nights in a row looking for her, caught a cold and cried myself to sleep. I miss her so bad.

I guess this is what one gets for being sour to anyone but animals. I have no one to turn to now, and I think people around me have reasons not to like me that much anyway.

I'm truly sorry about the loss of your cat. I know exactly how you're feeling. A few years ago, I also lost a street cat that I had been caring for since she was a kitten. She and her three siblings were born right outside my apartment door, so I started taking care of them....and it was almost my first time ever caring for cats. Before that, I couldn't even bring myself to touch a cat. But after about a year, my favorite one among them disappeared. She was the most affectionate of the bunch, and I felt devastated afterward. I felt like my life had become empty and colorless especially since I was living alone at the time, and those cats were really all I had in my life. but time went on, and I started caring for other street cats, but that first cat still holds a special place in my heart.
What's remarkable is that her sister...the one who remained....kept coming back to me for about 3 or 4 years, even though she was never affectionate and never let me get close to her. She would sometimes disappear for months and then return. So there's a real possibility that your cat might come back to you after some time, just like she did.
So please don't lose hope... be gentle with yourself. Whether she comes back or not, know that the bond you shared with her was real and beautiful. I truly hope your cat finds her way back to you, or that you find another companion...feline or human....to share your heart with. You deserve that connection.
